ছবিটির দিকে তাকিয়ে দেখুন, শেখার আছে অনেক কিছু।বেইজিং ইউনিভার্সিটি অব সায়েন্স অ্যান্ড টেকনোলজিতে গত পরশু সমাবর্তন অনুষ্ঠানে গ্র্যাজুয়েট শিক্ষার্থীদের পক্ষ থেকে একজন ছাত্রী বক্তব্য দিচ্ছিলেন, ওই ছাত্রীর বক্তব্য চলাকালীন হটাৎ গুড়ি গুড়ি বৃষ্টি শুরু হলে পাশে থাকা একজন প্রফেসর দৌঁড়ে গিয়ে একটা ছাতা নিয়ে এসে সে ছাত্রীর মাথার উপর ধরেন। পুরো বক্তব্য চলাকালীন তিনি ছাতাটা ছাত্রীর মাথার উপর ধরে রেখেছিলেন। ইন্টারেস্টিং বিষয় হলো, ওই প্রফেসর একইসাথে ডিপার্টমেন্টের প্রধান এবং শিক্ষকদের লিডারও।

আপনি কল্পনা করতে পারেন, বাংলাদেশের কোনো ভার্সিটি কনভোকেশন অনুষ্ঠানে এমন দৃশ্য?

কখনো নয়। এ ধরনের মানবিক এবং নৈতিক চর্চা আমাদের দেশের শিক্ষকদের মধ্যে গড়ে উঠেনি এবং উঠবেও না। এর অন্যতম কারণ, ইগো। কোনো শিক্ষক এমন মহৎ কাজ করতে যাবে না তার ভেতর প্রচন্ড ইগোর কারণে, তার মধ্যে
সবসময় এই চিন্তা কাজ করে যে, আমি শিক্ষক হয়ে কেন শিক্ষার্থীদের মাথায় ছাতা ধরতে যাব। হোক না বৃষ্টি, তাতে কী!

অথচ দেখেন, বিজ্ঞান ও প্রযুক্তিতে বিশ্বের অন্যতম সেরা ভার্সিটিগুলির একটি ভার্সিটির প্রফেসর তার ইগো ঠেলে কনভোকেশনে বক্তব্য দেওয়া কালে বৃষ্টি আসলে অনায়সে একজন ছাত্রীী মাথায় ছাতা ধরে রেখে মানবিকতার পরিচয় দিয়েছেন, একইসাথে অন্যদের নৈতিকতাও শিক্ষা দিলেন।

শিক্ষকতা হলো ঠিক এমনই মহৎ পেশা। শ্রেষ্ঠ মানুষজনই এই পেশায় আসবেন, এটাই স্বাভাবিক রীতি। এই শিক্ষকের কর্মেই তার প্রমাণ মেলে। যে শিক্ষক পাবলিকলি মানুষ হিসেবে ভালো মনের অধিকারী এবং অনুকরণীয় হওয়ার পরিচয় দিয়েছেন মানবিক কর্মের মাধ্যমে, নিশ্চয়ই সেই শিক্ষক ক্লাসরুমেও শিক্ষার্থীদের কাছে সেরা হবেন। তার জন্য সম্মান এবং শ্রদ্ধা।

আক্ষেপের বিষয় হলো, বাংলাদেশের শিক্ষাব্যবস্থায় এমন শিক্ষকতার চর্চা নেই। অনুকরণীয় তো পরের বিষয়, মহৎ হৃদয়ের মানুষ এই পেশায় নেই বললেই চলে। আমাদের দেশে ছাত্র-শিক্ষক সম্পর্ক হয়ে গেছে কমার্শিয়াল৷ অথচ ইউরোপ-আমেরিকায় ছাত্র-শিক্ষক সম্পর্ক হলো বন্ধুত্বের, সহযোগিতা, সম্মান এবং ভালোবাসার।
