who am I?
What a difficult thing to answer in a couple of photos and a caption.
I usually describe myself as a historian, filmmaker, and marine conservationist. But the issue is a bit more complex than that.
In December 2017 I graduated from high school and in January 2018 I arrived at university expecting to learn dates, names, and historical events (I started studying History, so it made sense). It turned out that I learned much more than dates, I became interested in the stories that everyone can tell and developed a new and curious taste for cinema.
So I graduated at 22 and less than a year later I found myself moving to Los Angeles to study film production. It wasn’t what I expected either, but there I was, trying to turn on a professional camera with 16 other newcomers to the entertainment capital of the world. I wrote, produced, directed, designed, shot, and edited more shorts than I ever imagined I would make in a year. And I spent a lot of my dad’s money.
In the midst of all that, I joined a marine protection foundation in Ecuador, although I have never been to Ecuador. I have been there for almost 4 years looking for ways to protect spaces and species that are key to the health of the oceans, and the planet in general.
‘What do history, people’s stories, cinema and marine conservation have to do with each other?’ I have been asked that question several times.
Well, they are the things that I like and in my neurodivergent head they connect in the most spectacular way: documentaries, series and movies.
I know it sounds strange, but for me it makes perfect sense. I would like you to join me on the adventure of living among cameras and lights on sets, looking for ways to save Gaia and, I hope in the future, traveling to all its places meeting new people and telling a little of their stories.
And, well, looking for a way to do all this, I found a group of people who live like I want to live.
Stay tuned for the next chapter of this (hi)story ✌🏻
