⚡🇺🇸 SHOCK-DELIVERING GLOVES? ICE CONSIDERS SPENDING UP TO $20 MILLION
A new controversy is brewing in the United States.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) plans to acquire thousands of devices known as G.L.O.V.E.s—gloves capable of delivering an electric shock through direct skin contact. The contract could reach $20 million.
The Department of Homeland Security describes these devices as "distraction and de-escalation" tools intended to help agents manage situations involving resistance.
However, civil rights organizations have reacted with concern.
Critics warn that access to a tool capable of inflicting pain via electric shock could increase the risk of excessive force, especially given that ICE is already facing intense scrutiny over its immigration enforcement methods.
The controversy now centers on a single question:
⚡ Is this a tool to reduce violence, or a new way to inflict it?
ICE has not yet begun widespread deployment of these devices; the acquisition plan itself has sparked strong criticism.
