Noreylys’s journey began with an internship at TUI's airport reception, where she discovered her love for serving others and creating connections. That passion fueled her growth from an intern to a full-time employee, and eventually brought her to Curaçao for an opportunity she couldn’t pass up. Now, as a Station Operation Coordinator, she plays a vital role in ensuring that operations run smoothly and safely for countless travelers.

World Tourism Day, celebrated annually on September 27, highlights the vital role of tourism in promoting cultural exchange, economic growth and sustainable development.

This year, the United Nations World Tourism Organization’s official theme is “Tourism & Sustainable Transformation”, encouraging destinations to embrace responsible tourism that benefits both communities and the environment.

On Curaçao, this year’s commemoration goes beyond awareness; it inspires action. The Curaçao Tourist Board has organized an impactful two‑day symposium; “Shore to Ship: Elevating the Local Cruise Experience” on September 29–30, 2025 at The Rif at Mangrove Beach Corendon Curaçao (Curio by Hilton), as a special event aligned with World Tourism Day.

Highlights of the symposium include:

* A keynote address by Antoinette Wright, Chief Supply Chain Officer for North America at Carnival Corporation, who will offer insights on evolving cruise tourism trends and how Curaçao can stay competitive.
* A panel discussion with experts from the cruise industry, the Curaçao Ports Authority, the government of Curaçao, shore excursion providers, and the Curaçao Tourist Board, exploring the theme “From Shore to Ship – Delivering a Seamless, Authentic & Impactful Cruise Experience.
* Hands‑on workshops led by the Aquila Center for Cruise Excellence, focusing on Tour & Guest Experiences, Service Excellence for Frontlines, and Driver Excellence—targeted at frontline workers such as retail staff, tour operators, attraction hosts, and drivers. Participants will earn a certification recognized by the Aquila Center.

For CHATA, this is a powerful moment to spotlight our commitment to sustainable tourism development.
