Avatar Records was established in 1997. From the first release 'Ama Zone' by Asia 2001, Sony Music signed a deal with Avatar and its releases were the first to be licensed and released locally in South East Asia. Avatar became a subsidiary of NMC Music/Sony Israel. Through the years, Avatar has gained a reputation and is recognized as a label of quality. After relationship with EMI and Universal,

Avatar became a fully independent label. Its main musical genres are electronica, trance, ambient, chillout and lounge. Under the umbrella of Avatar are the labels: Avatar Spirit (Lounge, Yoga and Café), ProFile (Classics in Trance and Ambient). Trans’pact and its sub labels. Avatar catalogue includes albums from: Goa Gil, Nimba, Asia 2001, The Nommos, Thomas Leer, Total Eclipse, Overdream, eniChkin, oCeLoT, X-Dream, Domino, Space Cat, Psychoz, Toi Doi, Jupiter 8000, Cydonia, Prana, GMS, Orion, Celtic Cross, Pete Namlook, Sonic Scope, Sandman, Hux Flux, Indoor, Elysium, Synchro and more.

Asia 2001 re-emerges with the new album Oxygen. New and unreleased material merging analogue vibe with the typical easily recognized distinctive Asia 2001 sound.
Oxygen brings together fresh compositions from Avichay Avigal alongside material and studio sessions that the duo began together and Avichay has completed after Gilbert Thévenet passing. The album captures the essence of their collaborative energy with the creative pulse that has always defined Asia 2001.
