Dalymount Park is set to host its last ever Bohs-Rovers derby this Monday before being re-built at the end of the season after 124 years of service.

The iconic venue will be re-built into an 8,039 UEFA category 3 venue.

We were lucky enough to photograph many parts of the stadium before one of the main stands got taken down few seasons prior.

If you’ve never been to Dalymount Park in its current form, there is still time. Book your flights. See history while you can.

While this is the last Bohs-Rovers derby on the men’s side, the women’s team will have the very last Bohs-Rovers derby in October.

The worst football injury that didn’t happen🚑

On this day, 16th of May, 1995, an injury that involved an ambulance happened. But it was all fake.
What Happened? The coach of Tromsø, Harald Aabrekk was holding the ball and wouldn’t give it back. When a physio of the opponents approached him and lightly nudged him, he fell to the ground. The “injury” was so great that he had to be taken to the hospital. Harald later admitted to fake the injury.

Was he ahead of his time?

“Here’s Hogg... DEENEY!” 13 years ago today Watford pulled one of the most incredible Championship play-off comebacks.

Leicester City had a play-off final spot it in their hands with a penalty in the last seconds of the game. Score it and you are just one game away from being in the Premier League. But Almunia pulled off a double save. And then… “Here’s Hogg... DEENEY!”

Watford would end up losing to Crystal Palace in the final, but the very moment, absolute football heritage.

But this is the perfect example of why promotions and relegations are so important. Without promotions these kind of games would never happen. Football isn’t just about the trophies.

Aș to Leicester, despite this setback, they would go on to win the Premier League just 3 years later in 2016.” 13 years ago today Watford pulled one of the most incredible Championship play-off comebacks.

On this day 10 years ago, Leicester City pulled one of the greatest underdog stories of all time. 10 years later they suffered their 2nd relegation in a row and will be playing 3rd-tier football next season.

Crazy how much just 10 years can change.

Despite their original win, their legendary coach Claudio Ranieri would get sacked the very next season. Classic football.

On this day in football: May 1, 1989, the world’s biggest football stadium opened in North Korea 🇰🇵

At its peak, the Rungrado 1st of May Stadium could hold up to 150,000 people. Today, it holds up to 114,000. It’s a purely outrageous number, in a location you probably wouldn’t expect to host the world’s biggest stadium.

North Korea is one of the most isolated countries in the world, meaning not many groundhoppers have had the chance to visit this arena.

Founded during World War I in Poland, Czuwaj Przemyśl is a football club that showcases the strength of football.

It has survived two World Wars, floods, and nearly disappeared more than once, as recently as 2022. Despite all that, it is still here over 100 years later.

Czuwaj translates into "be alert" and that perfectly sums up a club founded by scouts. Two 17-year-olds, to be precise, who just a few months later would go from football to liberating their city.

The club, just 15 kilometres from the border of Ukraine, is home to one of the most unique clubhouses in existence, built in a mountain style you'd expect to find in Zakopane, several hundred kilometres away.

Today they play lower league football, as they have done for most of their history.

More on Czuwaj coming soon!

Soon it will be time for those late night summer games under the golden rays of 🌅. With pints coming after. We are not there yet, but the signs are here. We’ve entered spring and summer is loading. And we can’t wait.

That also means that most football leagues are ending, but at the same time there are a few that just started such as the Swedish Allsvenskan.

This stadium in Prague could once upon a time fit 250,000 people.

The Great Strahov Stadium today is a training ground for Sparta Prague but during its time of greatness could hold events that fit 250,000 people.

Listed as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic since 2003, much of the stadium today sits in ruins. What remains in use is Sparta Praha's training ground. 8 pitches inside a decaying concrete shell.

During its time of greatness the stadium could hold events that fit 250,000 people, although the most it ever attracted was 350,000 people in a 1938 anti-war demonstration.

Football can be brutal….

Ireland was in heaven… until it was not.

It has to be said the fans put on a masterpiece of display across Prague.

The fans in Prague absolutely delivered!

24 years in the making for Ireland’s men’s national team. Their last World Cup? 2002. Troy Parrott, the man that made this possible with his last-second goal that put Hungary out, was just a few months old.

The Irish fans tonight are gathered in Prague in their masses. Only over a thousand will get into the stadium, but as many as 6,000 are estimated to have travelled to be a part of this night. Millions more will watch across pubs and homes across Ireland.

Just a few months ago, Ireland playing in the play-offs was more of a fairy dream than a possibility. The 70th-minute Evan Ferguson goal against Armenia kept hopes alive, but there was still a long road ahead. Never mind Hungary. First you had to beat Portugal. Troy Parrott scored two, and Ronaldo became an instant meme doing a crying emoji moments before receiving his first ever red card. But beating Portugal wasn’t enough. To get a play-off spot you needed to beat Hungary. In Hungary. With the same stakes. In front of their fans.

Ireland was down 2-1 going into the last 20 minutes. Then comes Parrott in the 80th. 2-2. You can’t sit. You can’t walk. You don’t know what to do. 5 minutes added. Already past that. Caoimhín Kelleher on the ball in his own half. Next thing you know you and the commentators are screaming in sync. One of the beautiful moments of football for the ages.

For the English, the Spanish, the French, a World Cup spot is almost guaranteed. For Ireland it is not. Ireland was incredibly close in 2009 when it got robbed by the Thierry Henry handball.

Win or lose tonight, this will remain in Ireland’s football history.

We got rejected an accreditation for tonight’s game, but it didn’t stop us. Football is Everywhere. Outside the stadiums. Down in the pubs. Absolute football heritage.
