Editorial Board Meeting – Soil and Water Research

The Editorial Board meeting of the Soil and Water Research journal took place on December 5, 2025, at the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague and partly as a videoconference. The meeting was chaired by Professor Kozák, the Editor-in-Chief. The participants discussed the current state of the journal and potential further developments, as well as support from the Editorial Board Members. Current bibliometric data, mainly from Web of Science, and the outlook for the 2025 impact factor were also discussed. In conclusion, the editor thanked all members for their work for the journal and for promoting it at domestic and international events.

Presentation of the Czech Academy of Agricultural Sciences journals at the MendelNet 2025 student conference

On November 5, the 32nd annual conference of Ph.D. students – MendelNet – will take place at the Faculty of Agronomy of Mendel University in Brno. This is an interdisciplinary student conference that offers a unique opportunity for students and their mentors from fields related primarily to agricultural activities to meet. The primary objective of the conference is to present specific research topics actively, share knowledge, and exchange experiences among participants across disciplines.
The conference is competitive in nature – individual contributions are evaluated by expert juries based on their professional level and contribution to the relevant field.
The journals of the Czech Academy of Agricultural Sciences are presented at this event in the form of promotional materials. We would like to thank Assoc Prof Ing. Tomáš Vyhnánek, Ph.D., editor of the Czech Journal of Genetics and Plant Breeding, for his assistance.¨

Presentation of Soil and Water Research journal at the Hydrology of Small Basin 2025 conference

From 7 to 9 October 2025, the Hydrology of Small Basin 2025 conference will take place in Prague under the auspices of the President of the Czech Academy of Sciences and the Czech Commission for UNESCO.

The main organiser of the conference is the Institute of Hydrodynamics of the Czech Academy of Sciences.
The conference topics include: Water resources regime in a small basin, Comprehensive monitoring and water balance in small basins, Hydrological extremes, Influence of vegetation cover and land use on the water regime, Soil transport processes, Hydrological modelling and uncertainties, Geochemistry of small catchments, Small catchments in mountainous areas, etc.

The journal of the Czech Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Soil and Water Research, is presented at this event in the form of promotional materials.

Rozhovor šéfredaktorky TV Zemědělec Zuzany Fialové s prof. Ing. Radimem Váchou, Ph.D., předsedou Vydavatelské rady ČAZV se uskutečnil dne 22. 9. 2025 na půdě České akademie zemědělských věd (ČAZV) v Domě zemědělské osvěty.

Prof. Vácha představil divákům a posluchačům vydavatelskou činnost ČAZV, jednotlivé vydávané časopisy, jejich historii i cíle do budoucna. Dále zhodnotil vývoj časopisů v posledních letech a informoval o jejich zařazení v databázích Web of Science a Scopus.

Pedological Days 2025, Anthropogenically Influenced Soils

From September 17 to 19, 2025, the conference “Pedological Days 2025” on the topic of anthropogenically influenced soils will take place in Most. This conference of the Czech Society of Soil Science and Societas pedologica slovaca is organised with the support of the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague, Forestry and Game Management Research Institute, and Research Institute for Soil and Water Conservation
The conference topic is anthropogenic impacts on the soil environment, which can cause both positive and negative changes in soil properties and can affect soil quality and health or its ability to provide ecosystem services. The conference is located in an area that has long been significantly impacted by open-pit mining of brown coal and its combustion.
The main topics specifics of anthropogenic soils, reclamation in post-mining landscapes, impacts of human activity on forest soils and impacts of human activity on agricultural soils
