The Dangote Refinery has lowered the price of petrol at the gantry to ₦828 per litre, a reduction from the previous cost of ₦877. This change reflects a 5.6% decrease.

Industry insiders have confirmed that NNPC Ltd will be providing the 650,000 barrels-per-day refinery with five crude shipments set to load in December. The shipments will include Amenam, Bonny Light, CJ Blend, Forcados, and Qua Iboe.

The change in pricing aims to offer some relief to fuel marketers and consumers across the country, after experiencing several weeks of high pump prices. Depot operators in Lagos have confirmed that they began loading at the revised price early on Friday, and a similar decrease in prices at retail stations is expected to follow suit in the next few days.

President Bola Tinubu has announced a state of emergency regarding the training facilities of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and other internal security agencies. During yesterday's session, the National Assembly's Joint Committee on Constitution Review gave unanimous support to the proposal for creating an additional state in the South East.

The committee has also approved the inclusion of independent candidates in every election and approved one extra seat for women in each state within both the Red and Green chambers of the National Assembly.

Currently, there are five states in the South East region: Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo. This number is one less than the six states in the South-South, South West, North Central, and North East regions, and two fewer than the seven states in the North West. The committee supported this view during a two-day retreat in Lagos, where they evaluated proposals for creating 55 new states throughout the country.

During the meeting, which was led by Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin alongside House of Representatives Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu, thorough discussions were held regarding these issue.

Senator Abdul Ningi from Bauchi Central proposed the motion to establish the new state, and it was seconded by Representative Ibrahim Isiaka of Ifo/Ewekoro, Ogun State.

The committee members all supported the motion, leading to its adoption.

The joint committee formed a subcommittee to evaluate requests for establishing more states and local government areas across all six geopolitical zones. The committee consists of one Senator and one Representative from each state.

President Tinubu expresses satisfaction with Nigeria's removal from the FATF grey list and affirms the nation's dedication to maintaining global financial transparency.

At today's Plenary meeting in Paris, France, the FATF revealed its decision to remove the listing. The FATF serves as the leading international organization responsible for setting standards to fight against money laundering, the financing of terrorism, and the funding of proliferation activities.

The announcement officially removed Nigeria from the list of jurisdictions subject to increased scrutiny, often called the "grey list."

He also acknowledged the support from the leadership of the National Assembly and the Judiciary in achieving this commendable milestone.
