Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) Inc said Wednesday it would shift some vehicle battery production from Germany to the United States.

While the Biden administration push, described by economists as an industrial policy, has opened opportunities for some companies, significant hurdles remain.

Reuters toured both Ohio sites and spoke to over a dozen outside experts and political leaders about those challenges, which include potential worker shortages and a growing backlash from foreign governments rushing to boost competing companies.

Once criticized by conservatives as "picking winners and losers" and by progressives as corporate welfare, a U.S. industrial policy is enjoying a rare bipartisan consensus, even in staunchly Republican states like Ohio.

The governor expects inflation to be below 2% for fiscal 2023 and fiscal 2024, adding that Japan is no longer in a deflationary environment.

Given that import prices have fallen, the Japanese government's energy assistance will aid in holding down inflation, Kuroda said.

India is hosting the first major G20 event under its year-long presidency at the summer retreat of Nandi Hills near tech hub Bengaluru.

Kuroda added that the Group of 7 nations believes that the global economy remains better than expected.

Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA) shares rocketed nearly 11% premarket after the chipmaker said it expect sales of some $6.5 billion in the first quarter, plus or minus 2% - better than the Street forecast of $6.43B. Meanwhile, CEO Jensen Huang was upbeat on the lucrative potential of AI while also assuaging investors that the post-pandemic slump in gaming activity was over.

Q4 earnings per share dropped by one-third to $0.88, but that was $0.07 better than analysts had expected, and revenue of $6.05B - down 20.1% from a year earlier - slightly topped the $6.01B consensus.

Following the results, Goldman Sachs upgraded the stock to Buy from Neutral with a sharply raised price target of $275 - up from the prior $162. Goldman called the quarter "impressive" adding, "We believe the combination of positive estimate revisions and a potential expansion in the stock's multiple - consistent with historical recovery phases - will drive continued outperformance in the stock."

A slew of other research firms also raised their price targets on the stock, including Evercore and Jefferies, which both lifted their targets to $300.

Shares were recently trading at $207.54 in the premarket

"AI is at an inflection point, setting up for broad adoption reaching into every industry,” chief executive Jensen Huang said in a statement, noting that this greatly expanded potential demand. “From startups to major enterprises, we are seeing accelerated interest in the versatility and capabilities of generative AI."

Huang also said that the slump in gaming activity that followed the end of the pandemic has ended, with gamers eagerly upgrading to a new generation of chips.

Nvidia shares rose 7% in after-hours trade following the report, and the company's upbeat outlook also fed through into Asian and European markets, lifting the stock prices of chipmakers in both regions. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (TW:2330) stock rose 2.2%, while BE Semiconductor (AS:BESI) opened 3.1% higher, and Infineon (ETR:IFXGn) and STMicroelectronics (EPA:STM) both rose 2.2%.

The upbeat outlook overshadowed a sharp fall in quarterly net profit, which dropped by more than half from a year earlier to $1.41 billion. Revenue fell 21% to $6.05B. Both numbers were slightly ahead of consensus forecasts.
