President Xi Jinping arrived in Saudi Arabia for the first leg of his overseas tour to promote China's soft power, as well as to boost political and economic ties with countries along the One Belt One Road (OBOR).

Xi Jinping is visiting Saudi Arabia and has signed a bunch of deals. This video takes a look at those deals, some of which are massive including a $30 Billion investment in building a refinery in Saudi Arabia, as well as other deals with Chinese companies investing in the Kingdom of Saudia.

MDLBeast’s Concert is Set to take place from December 1 to 3, marking the “Loudest Week” in Riyadh. Soundstorm featured performances by David Guetta, Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren, and other prominent artists.

The decision to award Qatar hosting rights for the 2022 World Cup has been marred by controversy, including allegations of corruption and human rights violations, since it was first announced 12 years ago. Here is a look at the issues:

Fifa awarded the tournament to the Middle Eastern country in 2010, with the understanding it would be held during the summer, where temperatures exceed 40 degrees Celsius (104 Fahrenheit).

In 2015, Fifa recommended that Qatar host a shorter World Cup over the cooler months of November and December in a move that was sure to put soccer's world governing body on a collision course with the major European leagues.

The schedule change to the northern hemisphere winter marked the first time that the World Cup moved from its regular slot of June and July when Europe's lucrative domestic leagues have concluded their seasons.

The leagues will pause their 2022-23 campaigns to allow players to compete in the November 20-Dec 18 World Cup.

Student loan borrowers are now waiting indefinitely to see if they'll receive debt relief under President Joe Biden's student loan forgiveness program after a federal judge in Texas struck down the program Thursday, declaring it illegal.

The Department of Justice immediately appealed to the 5th US Circuit Court of Appeals. But that case will have to play out before the Biden administration can cancel any federal student loan debt under the program.

While the Biden administration has faced several legal challenges to the student loan forgiveness program since it was announced in August, the ruling on Thursday is the most significant setback thus far -- prompting the Department of Education to stop accepting applications for debt relief.

Biden's program was already on hold due to a separate legal challenge, but the administration had continued accepting applications, having received 26 million to date.

Under the rules of the program, eligible low- and middle-income borrowers can receive up to $10,000 of federal student loan forgiveness and up to $20,000 in cancellation if they also received a Pell grant while enrolled in college.

The legal road ahead is murky, but it could take many months for the issue to be resolved.

The Texas decision "makes it more likely that the issue will ultimately go to the Supreme Court, though it is still too early to say," said Abby Shafroth, staff attorney at the National Consumer Law Center.

Justin Trudeau, the prime minister of Canada, has accused China of meddling in several candidates' election campaigns there. China has been accused of targeting various candidates from both the Liberal Party and the Conservative Party by Trudeau. According to Canada’s PM, efforts were made by China to bribe candidates and advise them during recent elections. It has been found that China supported at least eleven candidates during the federal elections of 2019.

Canadian Intelligence informed Global News that Beijing funded campaigns of various candidates, where up to $250,000 Canadian were paid. The funds were directed through an Ontario-based MP, and the Chinese Consulate in Toronto had a direct hand in it. China wanted to have its people in these political circles to frame policy in favour of China. For that, many political people and former government officials were bribed.
