There are and have always been q***r stories in Eastern European history - from tender 19th-century love letters between Polish writers to groundbreaking activism in late-Soviet Czechia, to Estonia's q***r theatre traditions, to Tamara de Lempicka's art hidden in plain sight at a Minsk McDonald's. Kurt Koch survived four concentration camps after being persecuted for s*x with men, returned to Halle after liberation, married briefly, yet no criminal case or photo of him was found.
