Out now: cellist Benedict Kloeckner and pianist Yu Kosuge release their new album "Dialogue" on Berlin Classics.

The album brings together music by Schubert and Mendelssohn, centred on the idea of the song without words: melodies that speak through the cello with the warmth and closeness of the human voice.

Alongside Mendelssohn's Cello Sonata No. 2 and Schubert's Arpeggione Sonata, "Dialogue" features arrangements of songs by both composers for cello and piano. A programme of contrast, intimacy and musical conversation.

Sophie Dervaux - Dartigalongue continues her journey through Vivaldi’s bassoon concertos with the new single from her upcoming album "Vivaldi Bassoon Concerti III".

In the Concerto in C Major, RV 479, Vivaldi plays with little surprises: radiant C major is repeatedly clouded by minor shades, while the solo bassoon and orchestra move through unexpected harmonic turns. Together with La Folia Barockorchester, Dervaux brings out this lively character with freedom, ornamentation, and vivid accompaniment.

Out now: Fateyeva, Eckart Runge - cellist and Andreas Borregaard release their new album "Goldberg Variations" on Berlin Classics.

Bach's iconic work is reimagined for an unusual trio: soprano saxophone, cello and accordion. What began as an almost impossible idea became a long artistic journey, shaped by great respect for Bach's architecture and the curiosity to rethink the music from within.
Instead of simply transferring fixed voices to three instruments, the trio lets the lines shift, answer each other and change roles. Melody, harmony and bass move flexibly between the instruments, creating a transparent dialogue that reveals Bach's polyphony in a new light.

What if one of Mendelssohn's most intimate confessions was hidden inside a cello sonata?

Benedict Kloeckner and Yu Kosuge release the Adagio from "Dialogue": the third movement of Mendelssohn's Cello Sonata No. 2.

A chorale-like piano opening unfolds into a recitative filled with echoes of Jewish folklore, creating, somehow, a reflection of Mendelssohn's inner world, suspended between Christianity and Judaism.

Composed in 1843, the sonata combines virtuosity with profound introspection. But in this movement, time almost seems to stand still.

Moritz Winkelmann spontaneously played Beethoven’s Op. 7 on this historic Broadwood piano and had a wonderful time doing so.
Beethoven did not receive a Broadwood piano until later in life, meaning he did not compose this sonata with this instrument in mind. And by the time he owned one, he was already deaf — he could never have heard Op. 7, nor any of his other works, played on a Broadwood piano.
And yet, sitting at this instrument offered a tiny, intriguing, almost astonishing glimpse into Beethoven’s world.
Moritz Winkelmann’s recording of Op. 7, released today, was made on a modern Steinway concert grand, raising the question of what Beethoven’s music might have become had he known the modern piano. Uncompromising as he was, probably exactly the same.
Op. 7 was published in 1797 as Beethoven’s first “Grande Sonate” with its own opus number.
It is hoped that listeners will find something meaningful in this recording — enjoy!

One of the most iconic melodies in classical music: Asya Fateyeva, Eckart Runge and Andreas Borregaard perform the Aria Da Capo from Bach's Goldberg Variations on their new single release.
In their interpretation of the Goldberg Variations, the trio rethinks the musical roles within the pieces: instead of fixed voice assignments, the lines shift and interact in a flexible, almost conversational way. Melody, harmony, and bass move between accordion, soprano saxophone, and cello, creating a dynamic exchange that brings new clarity and character to Bach’s music.

Out now: "Kiss of Fire" — the new album by SPARK - The Classical Band. At the center of the project stands Chiel Meijering's concerto "Kiss of Fire": a work written for Spark, string orchestra, and percussion that unfolds as a journey through contrasting emotional states. Across nine character pieces, the music moves between intensity and lightness, rhythm and reflection, creating a sound world that is both immediate and constantly evolving. The album also features original compositions by the members of Spark, each picking up musical ideas from the concerto and developing them further in their own voice. Together, these pieces form a cohesive yet diverse musical landscape, shaped by curiosity, individuality, and a distinctive ensemble sound. Recorded in collaboration with the Württembergisches Kammerorchester Heilbronn: "Kiss of Fire" adds a new orchestral dimension to Spark's signature style, combining precision, energy, and a strong sense of exploration.
