The Ministry of Mines and Petroleum has signed a contract for the Sorkani gold mine in Shamal district of Khost province with a commercial company engaged in mining extraction and processing.

Mullah Hedayatullah Badri, Minister of Mines and Petroleum, said the mine spans 0.61 square kilometres, with an investment of over 802 million Afghanis.

The contract for the Aybak Cement Plant project in Feroz Nakhchir district of Samangan province has been signed between the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum and Aybak Cement Company, with a total investment of $67 million.

Mullah Hedayatullah Badri, Minister of Mines and Petroleum, said the agreement has been concluded for 30 years and is expected to create jobs for 600 people upon commencement of operations.

He added that the plant will have a daily production capacity of 1,200 tons of cement.

According to the ministry, the project will provide nutrition services to over 28,000 residents of the province and create employment opportunities for 24 individuals in the health sector.

The Ministry of Finance said that mobile monitoring teams of the General Directorate of Customs have seized a significant quantity of smuggled goods over the past two weeks in Kandahar, Nimroz, Farah, Nangarhar, and Helmand provinces.

The ministry added that the confiscated items included food and non-food goods such as fruits, medicines, and clothing, with several individuals arrested in connection with smuggling cases.

NATO agreed on Thursday to modernize its nuclear capabilities and strengthen its nuclear planning capacity, the alliance’s senior body for nuclear deterrence said in a statement, Reuters reported.

All NATO allies except France are members of the Nuclear Planning Group, which serves as a forum for consultation and decision-making on nuclear deterrence.

The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriates has signed a $498,301 cooperation agreement with a partner organization to support vulnerable populations across several provinces.
According to the ministry, the funding will be used to provide legal advisory services and strengthen border monitoring for 191,339 internally displaced persons, returnees, and host community members.
The assistance will be implemented in Nimroz, Kandahar, Nangarhar, Laghman, Helmand, and Kunar provinces, aiming to improve protection and support services for affected communities.

An Israeli soldier was killed and seven others injured after an explosive device detonated near a military position in southern Lebanon, according to Israel’s public broadcaster KAN.
The report said the incident occurred on Wednesday near a forward command post close to the Litani River, where troops from the Givati Brigade were operating on foot. The Israeli military described the explosion as being caused by an “enemy device,” and confirmed that the wounded soldiers were evacuated by helicopter to hospitals.
The incident comes amid ongoing tensions along the Lebanese-Israeli border despite recent diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing regional hostilities.

The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriates has announced that 485 Afghan citizens have been released from prisons in Pakistan and returned to Afghanistan.
According to the ministry, the returnees include both families and individuals who were detained in Pakistan due to residency and documentation-related issues and had spent varying periods in custody.
The ministry stated that the released individuals entered Afghanistan through the Torkham and Spin Boldak border crossings. After receiving initial humanitarian assistance, they were transported to their respective home provinces.
