🔎 If you are using Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or other social media channels for marketing, you need to make sure that your content is readable for those that use screen readers. This means that you must have proper alt text on all of your images. Here is a quick how-to on adding alt-text to your post on Instagram.
Instagram says: "Automatic alt text uses object recognition technology to provide a visual description of photos for people with visual impairments. You can replace this text to provide a better description of a photo. Keep in mind that this description will only be read if someone is using a screen reader to access Instagram.
1. Start by taking a photo or uploading an existing photo to
Instagram. Choose a filter and edit the image, then tap next.
2. Tap advanced settings at the bottom of the screen.
4. Tap write alt text. Remember, this text is used to provide a better description of the image by a screen reader. Keep it short, and provide context.
6. Write your alt text in the box and tap done. Now when someone uses the screen reader, your image will literally be read to them so that it is accessible!
