Another big week on the Iveco build! 🚐🔨

We had to re-install the fan dome after realising we hadn’t clamped it down properly the first time 😅

Then it was back to the electrical system — adding more wiring, fuses, the breaker box, connecting the system to the chassis and installing our external 230V hookup which will run into the Victron MultiPlus. ⚡️

With the help of Mado’s dad, we’ve nearly finished all the wiring, but we still have a few final connections to make once the heating and water system arrives.

We also ordered our heating setup from AUTOTERM! 🔥 We went with the Air 4D diesel heater and CombiBOIL water system, which is another huge piece of the build finally sorted.

And finally, we started framing out the inside of the van with timber beams and picked up the plywood for the walls.

Slowly but surely… it’s starting to look like a home! 🏡🚐

Quick update on the current situation in our van!
Basically going very slow as it’s basically all thinking on this journey, but also things have slowed down as I got a full time job aswell but I don’t want that to effect the build! I just need to push through! 🚐

Cutting a massive hole in the roof for our new windows honestly was terrifying 😅

After weeks of measuring and researching, we finally installed our 800 × 500 mm rooftop window. We cut out the raised section of the roof, straightened the metal, filed and protected the edges, built a wooden support frame and carefully sealed everything into place.

Definitely one of the scariest jobs of our van build so far—but the extra light and space made it completely worth it!

We’re not professionals—this was our first attempt—so always do your own research before cutting into your van!

We’re finally exposing the truth…👀

Building a van has been the biggest challenge we’ve ever taken on… and we wouldn’t change a thing😅🚐

We’re excited to be working with LiTime on our van build ⚡🚐

Use code GAM at checkout for 10% off your order.

We’ll be using this awesome great-value LiTime battery as part of our electrical setup, helping power our van life adventures on the road.

LiTime is a solid option if you’re looking for a reliable lithium battery for a campervan, RV, off-grid setup, or DIY build.

Can’t wait to get this installed and show you how it fits into our full van electrical system 🔋

This part of the van build was honestly a nightmare at the start 😅

We’re also using a LiTime battery in our setup, and you can use our discount code GAM10 if you’re looking at getting one for your own build.

Before we could even start wiring our campervan electrical system, we had to build the board that everything would mount onto.

We started by planning out the layout, then bought a sheet of plywood and cut it down to size for the back of the van. From there, we marked where all the electrical components would sit, drilled the holes, countersunk the back, and added T-nuts so everything could bolt down properly.

The goal was to have a strong, clean setup where the bolts sit flush and nothing sticks out the back of the board. It took way longer than expected, but once the Victron gear, Lynx Distributor, switches, fuses, and other components were sitting in place, it finally felt like a big step forward.

This is the beginning of our campervan electrical system coming together ⚡️

Part 2 of our van window install! 🪟🚐
After cutting the holes in the last reel, it was finally time to fit the windows. We prepped the metal, applied Dekaseal 1512, and carefully installed the frames before a thunderstorm rolled in. We just managed to get everything covered in time! ⛈️😅

Building our 2011 Iveco Daily into our dream home on wheels, one mistake and lesson at a time.

This was by far the scariest part of the van build so far… cutting our first window hole into the side of the van. 😅

After buying our side windows, measuring everything about 100 times, taping up the van, marking the template, drilling the corners, and finally taking the jigsaw to the metal… there was no going back.

One wrong cut and we could’ve ruined the side of our Iveco.

But somehow… we did it. Our first window cut is officially done. 🚐✨

Van build just got very real.

After painting and fitting the plywood, we realised it wasn’t sitting flush because it was hitting the wheel arch cover. So we had to take the whole floor back up, move it forward, and get Mado’s dad to help trim the cut properly.

Once it finally fit, we pre-drilled the screw holes carefully so we didn’t go through the bottom of the van — using a little homemade drill stopper to be safe.

And while all of that was happening, we also continued adding Armaflex into the walls, small cavities, and awkward gaps… which took way longer than expected but should make a big difference for insulation.

This build is teaching us one thing: nothing fits first time 😂

Step by step, we’re getting closer to turning this old Iveco Daily into our tiny home on wheels.

We thought building a floor would be easy…

Measure. Cut. Sand. Paint. Sand again. Paint again. 😅

What looked like a simple job quickly turned into a full-day project, but seeing it finally come together makes it all worth it.

One step closer to turning this van into our future home. 🚐❤️
