Over 150 people at quarter to seven for Pokémon cards. Last time an hour early was not enough, today two hours are not. And honestly: this is not collecting any more, it is a race for cards that will be everywhere in three months. I am here anyway.

I hide Pokémon cards exactly where everyone is queuing for the 30th anniversary cards — and I tell you whether the trip is still worth it. If you leave at 7, you will not get anything. Except these. Follow the route, first to find one keeps it.

Two famous Pokémon cards play out in the same scene, and hardly anyone notices. On one, a Squirtle splashes in the water with Pidgeys flying overhead. On the other, Charmander sits at the window — it cannot go in. If its tail flame goes out, its life ends. Look at the Pidgeys.

Three Pokémon linked into one. Three brains, magnetically joined — and the Pokédex notes drily that this does not make them three times smarter. Behind the card lies exactly the same Pokémon, 27 years older: Magneton, Base Set 1999, next to the SVP 159 promo.

I hide Pokémon cards through the whole video and tell you where I find cards right now. Big flea markets: mostly new stock, but pro sellers sell at market price, no shipping. Yard sales: real finds. New stuff: Media Markt on a weekday at 1pm. Today: 42 euros. Fair?

A Pokémon warming its hands — on icicles. The exact gesture we make around a campfire, just on ice. It loves the cold: ice is its campfire. And there is a Fire Pokémon lying right next to it, but it prefers the ice. Did you get the joke right away, or only the second time?

Almost everyone mixes these two up — and it starts one stage earlier: the pre-evolutions look just as alike. There is a reason. Both lines evolve only with a Moon Stone, and both were Normal types until they became Fairies. Clefable, Jungle 1/64, from 1999.
