- Rites ov Flesh
Die heutige Truppe sollte man auschecken, ohne frage, wen?: Cvinger. Gegründet im eisigen Winter
2012 in Slowenien (Fact am Rande: Das Wort bezeichnet im Alt-Slowenischen eine Verteidigungsmauer oder die Trennmauer für Suizidale auf Friedhöfen – morbider geht’s kaum!), machten die Jungs von Sekunde eins an klar, dass sie keine Gefangenen nehmen.
Gestartet als klassisches Black-Metal-Gespann, beschäftigten Sänger Lucerus und Gitarrist Bagot sich schnell mit ihrem Sound, der das finstere Mittelalter direkt Richtung Moderne bringen sollte.
Schon die ersten Veröffentlichungen ließen die europäische Szene aufhorchen, und nach einer kreativen Pause meldete man sich vor etwa zwei Jahren bärenstark zurück.
Ihr Stil?
Ein absolut kompromissloser, dunkler Black Metal, der allerdings auch nicht zurückschreckt ein bischen Death Metal einzubringen.
Das Ganze ist brutal, pfeilschnell, scheut sich aber nie vor rituellen Atmosphären.
Das aktuelle Line-up steht dabei wie eine Eins und feuert die Songs mit maximaler Präzision ab: An den Vocals keift und brüllt sich Urgestein Lucerus die Seele aus dem Leib, während das Gitarren-Doppel aus Nord slayer und Ichor für die messerscharfen Riffs sorgt. Den Bass bedient Corvus, und an den Drums sitzt mit Morgoth eine absolute Rhythmus-Maschine, die live wie auf Platte alles in Schutt und Asche legt.
Genau diese Truppe hat jetzt ihr neues Album Rites Ov Flesh im Gepäck! Uns liegt das Teil aktuell als Promo vor (die Vinyl wird aber mit ziemlicher Sicherheit noch den Weg in die Sammlung finden), und wer dachte, die Jungs hätten einen Gang runtergeschaltet, wird hier innerhalb der ersten Sekunden eines Besseren belehrt.
Das Album erscheint im August über Wanderer Productions wie immer vielen lieben Dank, und ist ein absoluter Pflichtkauf für alle, die ihren Metal pechschwarz und räudig brauchen.
Konzeptionell haben sich Cvinger hier ordentlich was vorgenommen.
Das Album besteht aus insgesamt neun Tracks, die alle konsequent als rituelles „Rite“ durchnummeriert sind. Inhaltlich geht es tief in den "Left-Hand Path", genauer gesagt um die spirituellen Praktiken slawischer und indischer Nomadenstämme. Vergesst also stumpfe Klischees – hier wird die spirituelle Transformation durch Meditation, extremes Fasten und Aghori-Sexrituale vertont.
Musikalisch spiegelt sich das in der Struktur perfekt wider.
Die Songs sind keine standardmäßigen Strophe-Refrain-Nummern, sondern fühlen sich eher an wie eine finstere Zeremonie.
Es gibt Blasts, die plötzlich in tonnenschwere, kriechende Passagen übergehen, nur um euch im nächsten Moment wieder komplett zu überrollen.
Der Sound hat im Vergleich zu den älteren Sachen noch mal eine ordentliche Schippe Dreck dazubekommen.
Während die Band früher oft schon fast klinisch und schneidend klang, drückt die Produktion auf Rites Ov Flesh (aufgenommen im Studio 369) unfassbar fett.
Die Gitarren sägen heftig, der Bass rumpelt ordentlich und die Drums klingen organisch, aber tödlich präzise.
Um euch das mal bildlich vorzustellen: Cvinger balancieren hier perfekt auf dem schmalen Grat zwischen der eiskalten Raserei von Gorgoroth oder 1349 und den mächtigen, walzenden Death-Metal-Grooves von Morbid Angel.
Wer außerdem den epischen, peitschenden Vibe von Kampfar feiert, wird sich hier sofort wie zu Hause fühlen.
Dass dieser Spagat meisterhaft gelingt, merkt man extrem gut in „RITE III – Mass Incineration for the Divine Resurrection“.
Der Track startet wie eine absolute Kriegserklärung, bei der die Drums im High-Speed-Takt Kugeln spucken.
Doch statt in der Monotonie zu versinken, bricht der Song plötzlich auf:
Eine schrille, fast schon wahnsinnige Lead-Gitarre schiebt sich in lichte Höhen, während im Hintergrund ein fettes, fast schon panoramaartiges Riffing den Song auf eine gigantische, majestätische Ebene hebt.
Genau diese Dynamik zieht sich durch das gesamte Album – es ist unvorhersehbar, verdammt brutal und erzeugt eine fesselnde, spirituelle Atmosphäre, die man so im klassischen Black Metal selten hört.

Cvinger – Rites ov Flesh
Danes si morate brez dvoma ogledati to skupino: Cvinger. Ustanovljena v mrzli zimi
leta 2012 v Sloveniji (zanimivost: beseda v staro-slovenskih jezikih pomeni obrambni zid ali ločevalni zid za samomorilce na pokopališčih – bolj morbideno skoraj ne more biti!), so fantje od prve sekunde dal jasno vedeti, da ne jemljejo ujetnikov.
Začeli so kot klasični black metal duo, pevec Lucerus in kitarist Bagot pa sta se hitro lotila svojega zvoka, ki naj bi mračni srednji vek prenesel naravnost v sodobnost.
Že prve izdaje so pritegnile pozornost evropske scene, po kreativnem premoru pa so se pred približno dvema letoma vrnili z vso močjo.
Njihov stil?
Absolutno brezkompromisen, mračen black metal, ki pa se ne boji vključiti tudi kančka death metala.
Celota je brutalna, bliskovita, a se nikoli ne boji ritualnih atmosfer.
Trenutna zasedba stoji kot eno in izvaja pesmi z maksimalno natančnostjo: Na vokalu se veteran Lucerus kriči in rjove iz duše, medtem ko kitarski duo Nord Slayer in Ichor skrbi za ostro rezane rife. Bas igra Corvus, za bobni pa sedi Morgoth, prava ritmična mašina, ki tako v živo kot na plošči vse spremeni v ruševine in pepel.
Prav ta ekipa ima zdaj v prtljagi svoj novi album Rites Ov Flesh! Trenutno imamo na voljo promocijsko izdajo (vinil pa bo skoraj zagotovo našel pot v zbirko), in kdor je mislil, da so fantje prestavili v nižjo prestavo, bo v prvih sekundah spoznal, da se moti.
Album izide avgusta pri založbi Void Wanderer Productions, kot vedno najlepša hvala, in je absolutna obvezna nabava za vse, ki imajo radi svoj metal črn kot oglje in razpadel.
Konceptualno so si Cvinger tukaj kar nekaj zastavili.
Album sestavlja skupno devet skladb, ki so vse dosledno oštevilčene kot ritualni »Rite«. Vsebinsko se poglablja v »Left-Hand Path«, natančneje v duhovne prakse slovanskih in indijskih nomadskih plemen. Pozabite torej na otopele klišeje – tu je duhovna preobrazba upodobljena skozi meditacijo, ekstremno postenje in aghori spolne rituale.
Glasbeno se to odraža v strukturi.
Skladbe niso standardne pesmi s kiticami in refrenom, ampak se bolj počutijo kot mračna slovesnost.
Obstajajo blast beati, ki nenadoma preidejo v težke, plazeče se pasaze, le da vas v naslednjem trenutku spet popolnoma prevalejo.
V primerjavi s starejšimi deli je zvok dobil še eno dobro mero umazanije.
Medtem ko je skupina v preteklosti pogosto zvenela skoraj klinično in rezko, je produkcija na Rites Ov Flesh (posneta v studiu 369) neverjetno debela.
Kitare močno žagajo, bas dobro bobni, bobni pa zvenijo organsko, a smrtonosno natančno.
Da si to lahko predstavljate: Cvinger tu popolnoma balansirajo na tanki meji med ledeno mrzlim besom Gorgorotha ali 1349 in mogočnimi, valovitimi death metal groovi Morbid Angel.
Kdor poleg tega obožuje epski, bičajoč vibe skupine Kampfar, se bo tu takoj počutil kot doma.
Da jim ta spagat mojstrsko uspeva, se izjemno dobro opazi v »RITE III – Mass Incineration for the Divine Resurrection«.
Skladba se začne kot absolutna vojna napoved, pri kateri bobni v visokohitrostnem taktu pljuvajo kroglice.
A namesto da bi se potopil v monotonijo, se komad nenadoma razpre:
visokoton, skoraj nor vodilni kitarski ton se vzpenja v svetle višave, medtem ko v ozadju močan, skoraj panoramski riffing dvigne komad na gigantsko, veličastno raven.
Prav ta dinamika se vleče skozi celoten album – je nepredvidljiva, prekleto brutalna in ustvarja privlačno, duhovno atmosfero, ki je v klasičnem black metalu redko slišati.
Cvinger s Rites Ov Flesh prinašajo pravi vrhunec. Posnetek za poslušanje je na voljo spodaj, prav tako kot vse relevantne povezave.

Cvinger - Rites ov Flesh
You should definitely check out today’s band—no question about it. Who? Cvinger. Formed in the freezing winter
of 2012 in Slovenia (fun fact: in Old Slovenian, the word refers to a defensive wall or the partition wall for suicides in cemeteries—it doesn’t get much more morbid than that!), the guys made it clear from the very first second that they take no prisoners.
Starting out as a classic black metal duo, vocalist Lucerus and guitarist Bagot quickly focused on their sound, which was meant to transport the dark Middle Ages straight into the modern era.
Even their first releases caught the attention of the European scene, and after a creative hiatus, they made a powerful comeback about two years ago.
Their style?
Absolutely uncompromising, dark black metal that doesn’t shy away from incorporating a bit of death metal.
The whole thing is brutal, lightning-fast, yet never shies away from ritualistic atmospheres.
The current lineup stands as one and fires off the songs with maximum precision: On vocals, veteran Lucerus screams and roars his heart out, while the guitar duo of Nord Slayer and Ichor delivers razor-sharp riffs. Corvus handles the bass, and on drums sits Morgoth, an absolute rhythm machine who reduces everything to rubble and ashes both live and on record.
This very band now has their new album, *Rites Ov Flesh*, in tow! We currently have a promo copy (though the vinyl will almost certainly find its way into our collection), and anyone who thought the guys had slowed down will be proven wrong within the first few seconds.
The album is set to be released in August via Void Wanderer Productions—as always, many thanks—and is an absolute must-buy for anyone who needs their metal pitch-black and gritty.
Conceptually, Cvinger have really set their sights high here.
The album consists of a total of nine tracks, all of which are consistently numbered as a ritual “Rite.” Thematically, it delves deep into the “Left-Hand Path,” more specifically into the spiritual practices of Slavic and Indian nomadic tribes. So forget dull clichés—here, spiritual transformation is set to music through meditation, extreme fasting, and Aghori s*x rituals.
Musically, this is perfectly reflected in the structure.
The songs aren’t standard verse-chorus numbers, but rather feel like a sinister ceremony.
There are blasts that suddenly transition into heavy, creeping passages, only to completely overwhelm you again the next moment.
Compared to their older material, the sound has been given a good dose of grime.
While the band used to sound almost clinical and cutting, the production on Rites Ov Flesh (recorded at Studio 369) is incredibly thick.
The guitars saw through the mix with ferocity, the bass rumbles powerfully, and the drums sound organic yet deadly precise.
To put it in perspective: Cvinger perfectly balance here on the fine line between the ice-cold frenzy of Gorgoroth or 1349 and the mighty, rolling death metal grooves of Morbid Angel.
Anyone who also loves the epic, whipping vibe of Kampfar will immediately feel right at home here.
You can really hear how masterfully they pull off this balancing act in “RITE III – Mass Incineration for the Divine Resurrection.”
The track starts off like an all-out declaration of war, with the drums spitting bullets at high speed.
But instead of sinking into monotony, the song suddenly breaks out:
A shrill, almost frenzied lead guitar soars into the higher registers, while in the background, a massive, almost panoramic riffing elevates the song to a gigantic, majestic level.
It is precisely this dynamic that runs through the entire album—it is unpredictable, damn brutal, and creates a captivating, spiritual atmosphere rarely heard in classic black metal.
