50 Jahre Punk: Der Ventil Verlag feiert den runden Geburtstag 2026 mit einer Doppelveröffentlichung, für die über 200 Autor:innen den für sie wichtigsten Song der Punkgeschichte vorstellen: »Bored Teenagers: Ein Punk-Mixtape« und »Angriff auf’s Schlaraffenland: Ein Deutschpunk-Mixtape«, beide herausgegeben von Jonas Engelmann. Bis zur Veröffentlichung präsentieren wir jeden Tag einen Auszug, heute: #46 Franz Dobler über 39 Clocks: Rainy Night Insanities: »Die 39 Clocks begannen zu spielen, ihr Album ›Subnarcotic‹ war gerade erschienen. Die Menschen bewegten sich heftig, ohne dabei jedoch außer Kontrolle zu geraten. Die Musik war von einer düsteren Eindeutigkeit, hart und präzise, dabei nicht penetrant, sie schien tatsächlich sogar ein wenig Sentimentalität und Spaß zu verbreiten.«

LIGHTS AND A SLIGHT TASTE OF DEATH-out now!Heute ist also, nach vielen Jahren der Abstinenz, mit LIGHTS AND A SLIGHT TASTE OF DEATH das insgesamt 11. Album einer Band erschienen, die von den lichten Höhen und den tiefen Tälern im Musikgeschäft, wie auch im echten Leben berichten kann. Die Freude darüber ist groß. Die schon beginnende Leere aber auch. Eine Leere, die einen erfasst, wenn eine sehr lange, wahnsinnig freudvolle, aber auch unfassbar intensive Arbeit zu einem Ende gekommen ist. Sehr viel und sehr viel persönliches, das ich selbst dieser Platte beifügen wollte, beifügen musste. Lichtes eben und das bloße Gegenteil davon. Umarmende Lieder und das bloße Gegenteil davon. Und da und dort einfach nur die Freude über einen Klang, eine Form, einen Refrain. Oder ein Lied an sich, das uns gut gelungen ist. Musik ist die einzig universelle Sprache dieser Welt. Und damit auch die schönste und kostbarste.

Was wir darüberhinaus alle tun sollten ist, dafür zu sorgen, dass die Welt jeden Tag ein Stück weit besser wird. Davon handelt diese Platte. Und auch davon, dass am Ende das Licht gewinnt und das allumfassend Dunkle einfach weggespült wird. Light vs. Darkness: 14:3! Passt auf euch und auf eure Liebsten auf. Auf alle anderen auch.

With great pleasure we're announcing the new album by Krautrock tricksters Urlaub in Polen! Objects, Beings & Parrots is out January 23rd and the first single, Abacus, is out today. There's a stunning limited version available on orange vinyl (see last slide). 🍊

On this record, Georg Brenner and Jan Philipp Janzen (a founding member part of VON SPAR, initiator of Dumbo Tracks, current drummer of Die Sterne and more) are weaving finely crafted rhythmic repetitions with sonic experimentation.

You can hear the album’s decelerated genesis: after a lengthy writing phase, the tracks were recorded across multiple sessions at the secluded MARS Studio in Germany’s Eifel region. The result is a trippy, self-contained celebration of persistence—of pushing forward, without excluding moments of stillness, and with the occasional glance in the rear-view mirror.
