In letzter Zeit schreiben viele meiner sehr respektierten und heiß geliebten Kollegen sich den Frust von der Seele und posten hier teils bittere Worte über das heutige DJ-Business, die Dance- und Musikszene und die aktuellen Entwicklungen.
Und ja – vieles davon stimmt. Ich teile die meisten Gedanken und finde auch: Es ist oft nur noch ein seelenloser Zirkus, eine Ego-Show. Und ja, die Musik ist in den Hintergrund gerückt.
Selbst in der Popindustrie fehlen dieses Jahr die Hits. Was gerade populär ist, wirkt wie aufgewärmter Brei aus alten Songs und Tracks. Man kann eigentlich nur noch lachen darüber – und zwar ehrlich und von Herzen.
Denn am Ende entscheidet jeder selbst, welche Musik er hört, auf welche Events er geht und womit er seine Zeit füllt. Offensichtlich sind viele aber lieber damit beschäftigt, sinnlose Stories ins Netz zu stellen, die vier Leute sehen und acht Likes bekommen. Leute – es ist einfach zu viel. Das Netz ist überfüllt mit Content, schlechter Musik und noch schlechteren Idealen, die keiner wirklich braucht.
Nicht jede Mutti oder jedes Vorstadtmädchen muss eine „Stimme“ haben, nicht jeder Banklehrling ist ein Manager – und nicht jede Meinung muss gehört werden. Kommt schon, das hat euch schon eure Oma gesagt: Reden ist Silber, Schweigen ist Gold!
Vielleicht liegt’s an meinem „Keep it real“-Komplex oder einfach an meinem Alter – aber ich habe gelernt: Den Mund macht man nur auf, wenn es Sinn hat. Zum Beispiel wenn ein neuer Track oder ein Album fertig ist. Oder wenn einem etwas wirklich auf dem Herzen liegt – wie gerade eben. Alles andere: Überlegt euch zweimal, ob es nötig und wichtig ist.
Ich will nicht auf Partys gehen, die 100-mal dasselbe Reel posten: DJ hinterm Pult, Crowd mit „Hands up“. Ich will Partys, wo Menschen miteinander lachen, tanzen, eine gute Zeit haben. Wo Musik bewusst gehört, genossen und aufgesaugt wird.
Denn eins dürft ihr nie vergessen: Musik ist die einzige Sprache, die jeder auf der Welt versteht und die Menschen verbindet. Wenn ihr diese Sprache sterben lasst – weil eure Ohren und Herzen von Stumpfsinn verstopft sind – dann verliert ihr etwas, das ihr später wirklich bereuen werdet.
Wir DJs sind nicht nur da, um euch zu unterhalten. Wir sind auch da, um euch neue, hörenswerte Musik zu zeigen. Wir kuratieren den Soundtrack eures Lebens. Und deshalb sollten wir uns alle bewusst machen: Es geht nicht um Likes, Fame oder Follower. Es geht darum, zusammen eine gute Zeit zu haben – und Musik den Stellenwert zu geben, den sie verdient.
Denn Musik hat uns alle dorthin gebracht, wo wir heute stehen. Tragt diese Verantwortung mit Würde – und hört auf, euch im Netz zum Affen zu machen, nur weil ihr glaubt, es sei von Wert. Ist es nicht. Da lachen ja die Hühner.

Lately, I’ve seen a lot of my highly respected and much-loved colleagues venting their frustration and posting bitter words about today’s DJ business, the dance and music scene, and the way things are going.
And yes – a lot of it is true. I share most of those thoughts. Sometimes it really does feel like a soulless circus, an ego show. And yes, music has definitely moved to the background.
Even in the pop world there are no real hits this year. What’s “popular” right now is basically just reheated leftovers from old songs and tracks. Honestly, you can only laugh about it – and I mean really laugh, from the heart.
Because at the end of the day, everyone decides for themselves what music they want to hear, what events they want to go to, and how they want to spend their time. But it seems like most people are more interested in posting pointless stories online that four people watch and eight people like. Guys – it’s just too much. Way too much. The net is overflowing with content, bad music, and even worse ideals that nobody really needs.
Not every suburban girl or every mum needs a “voice,” not every bank trainee is a manager, and not every opinion has to be heard. Come on – your grandma already told you: Silence is golden!
Maybe it’s my “keep it real” complex, or maybe it’s just my age, but I’ve learned one thing: speak up only when it actually makes sense. Like when I’ve got a new track or album ready. Or when something is really on my mind – like right now. Everything else… think twice if it’s really worth saying.
I don’t want to go to a party that posts the same reel 100 times – DJ behind the decks, crowd with their hands up. I want to go to a party where people laugh, celebrate, and actually have a good time together. Where music is listened to consciously, felt, and absorbed.
Because never forget this: music is the one language that everyone in the world understands. It connects people. And if you let this language die – if your ears and hearts are blocked by all the nonsense – you’re going to lose something you’ll truly regret one day.
We DJs aren’t just here to entertain you. We’re here to bring you new, worthwhile music. We curate the soundtrack of your life. And I think a lot of us need to realize: it’s not about likes, fame, or followers. It’s about having a great time together and giving music the respect it deserves.
Because music is what brought us all here in the first place. So carry that responsibility with pride – and stop making a fool of yourselves online just because you think it’s worth something. Trust me – it’s not. What a joke.
