On June 28th, a group of Gualla wrestlers, led by the renowned Pach Majok Pach, had the pleasure of visiting their brothers, Awar Piok Riak and Mathiang Alier Mathiang, who had recently returned from Nairobi after spending some time there. They were graciously hosted in Thongpiny, Juba, by their esteemed cousin, Makeer Anyieth Gakeer, also known as Michael Anyong Mayen Igga, hailing from Atuot in Abang Payam.
The day was delightful, as Makeer is not only a sociable individual but also a passionate wrestling fan who selflessly dedicates much of his time and resources to support wrestling activities. In recognition of his commitment to the sport, he generously donated two bulls to the Bor County Wrestling Association in Nyang last year and made numerous other offers.
The event was further graced by the presence of Makeer's brother, the legendary wrestler Achol Mayen Igga, alongside Referee Moulana Majok Anual, adding to the significance of the gathering.
Among the key individuals captured in the accompanying pictures are Bol-Libo, Manyony-Machine, Majong'Khor, Panaan Kimira Bol Leek, Garang Ayuen Ajuong-Marongo, Referee Moulana Majok, Mathiang Alier Mathiang Garang, Michael Anyong Mayen Igga, Pach Majok Pach, and Achol Mayen Igga.
This gathering not only celebrated their shared love for wrestling but also strengthened the bonds of brotherhood and community among these dedicated individuals. It served as a reminder of the rich cultural heritage and camaraderie wrestling fosters within its community.
May the God of Meerbala be with Wen Nyanthi Makeer Anyieth Gakeer, showering him and his family with great blessings.
Best Regards.
