✨Best of Trailer APD 2025✨

A look back at some unforgettable moments✨
For everyone who joined us — and those who couldn’t make it — here’s your chance to (re)experience the energy of APD 2025!
--
An while we are enjoying a look back at this years edition, we are proud to share our progress in sustainability at APD 🌿

Since 2024 APD is certified with the ISO 20121 certificate for sustainable event management, covering every aspect of our event — from planning through ex*****on:

✈️ Travel remains our biggest challenge: flights account for the largest share of APD’s carbon footprint, but they’re often the only way to bring together international talents and speakers. So we’re reducing emissions by prioritizing train travel and aim to offset nearly all invited guest-related CO₂ emissions.

🚗 No More Airport Shuttles: In 2025, we’ve said goodbye to the shuttles — saving around 700 kilometers of car travel.

🚆 Public Transport for All
To support low-emission travel, we continue to provide every APD participant with a free public transport ticket.

🥗 Conscious Catering Choices
We’ve made it a priority to reduce the environmental footprint of our catering. Over 80% of all meals served at APD are vegetarian or vegan.

🎨 Smart Design, Less Waste
We’ve also taken a new approach to how we produce APD materials. By choosing year-neutral branding, we can reuse lanyards, table signage, beachflags and more.

🎬 What a start! Yesterday marked the first day of APD 2025, filled with great moments and plenty of opportunities to network and discuss exciting projects.

🎉 The Opening Ceremony of FMX, ITFS and APD on Monday already got us hyped for Stuttgart Animated Week.

🚀 Day one also featured the Talent Speed Pitch, where talents from our Talent Programme showcased the amazing projects they're working on. After a delicious buffet lunch, the conference officially kicked off with two panels.

🌍 The first panel, "Crisis, Change, Resilience: Filmmaking in Times of Transformation", explored how filmmakers are navigating global crises, tech disruptions, and evolving storytelling formats—and how they can build resilience in a changing world.

🎨 The second panel, "Catering to the Growing Animation Appetite of (Young) Adults", tackled the fading stereotype that “animation is just for kids” and discussed how the European industry can meet the increasing demand for animated content that speaks to (young) adult audiences.

✨ Now we’re looking forward to Day 2, with more insights, networking, and inspiration to come!

🔥 Project 50

Amada Libertad tells the story of the young Salvadoran poet and freedom fighter Leyla Quintana, who fought against the military dictatorship during the civil war in El Salvador in 1980. She processed her experiences in hundreds of poems, which were carried from the war-torn areas into the city thanks to an ingenious network of messengers. She herself died in the war, but her poems are still an emblem of strength and emancipation today and illustrate the power of words.

"Three teenagers show us their urban world. Their eyes scan their surroundings as a matter of course, always alert for danger. The three lead a double life. Outwardly, they are regular teenagers. But they share a secret - they are “sans-papiers”, undocumented immigrants, living within a legal grey zone in Switzerland. The prospects of getting their documents, passing high school final exams or finding an apprenticeship are poor. But there are always exceptions and thus, always hope."
