Papfay - Lank

Papfay’s beats and basslines are as fat and heavy as it gets, but nevertheless these two tracks move and groove with the glittering weightlessness of a confetti cloud drifting across the dancefloor. The French producer draws from the hypnotic magic of melodic endless loops and ritualistic chanting, stimulates us with sensual house vibes and creates compelling forward thrust with casual ease. Unter dem Codenamen Alien Radio ist es einem gewitzten Geist gelungen, kosmische Strahlung in für uns Menschen hörbare Frequenzen umzuwandeln. Diese Frequenzen haben es in sich… so sehr, dass sie demnächst womöglich als Rauschmittel klassifiziert werden, und zwar vollkommen zurecht! Auf der Transponder EP kommen wir in den Genuß einer dreifachen Dosis dieser exquisit stimulierenden Angelegenheit. Der housige Bass, wellenförmig ausbreitende Melodien und ihre glitzernden Echos geben uns ein sehr ähnliches Gefühl wie warmer Wind unter tropischer Sonne. Lässige Vocals fügen hier und da eine Spur Coolheit hinzu. Erinnerungen an die Sternstunden von Progressive House kommen hoch. Die außerirdische Herkunft dieser Grooves äußert sich in einer schwer zu beschreibenden, weil kosmisch dimensionierten Komponente von Tiefe und Weite, die den Grooves von Alien Radio einen hochmodernen, zukunftsweisenden Anstrich verleiht.

Using the code name Alien Radio, some smart mind managed to convert cosmic radiation into frequencies that tingle the human mind as something audible. These frequencies are quite something… they might actually be classified as an intoxicating stimulant soon, and with right so! With the Transponder EP we can enjoy the sparkly splendour of a triple dose of this exquisitely heady stuff. The house bassline, the wavelike, expanding movement of the melodies and their glittering echoes feel kind of similar to warm wind under a tropical sun. Casual vocals add a dash of humorous coolness here and there. The whole experience is sometimes reminiscent of the finest hours of Progressive House. However, there’s also the extraterrestrial origin of these grooves, which finds expression in feelings of deepness and vastness that are hard to describe due to their cosmic dimensions. The combination of these elements makes Alien Radio sound as future and pioneering as a space mission.

Eingekochte und dementsprechend gehaltvolle House Vibes vom Feinsten: Mit seiner Leitzen EP liefert Faber
Italy gleich dreimal sauber ab. Intruder ist ein nächtlicher Hypno-Loop, dessen verpeilte Samples wie die Sinnesstörungen eines einsetzenden Rauschs durch tight gespannte Frequenzbänder rieseln. Sunset In The Eyes geht in eine vollkommen andere Richtung und ist, wie der Titel erahnen lässt, ein in Groove komponierter Sommernachtstraum. Satter, körperbetonter Bass trifft in diesem Track auf dubbige Wärme und housige
Luftigkeit. Universal macht den Abwechslungsreichtum von Faber Italy perfekt: Die nahtlos gestrickte Eingängigkeit setzt auf minimalistische, und gerade deshalb extrem effektive Chords und Samples, um die Tanze innerhalb kürzester Zeit auf Temperatur zu bringen.

Condensed, rich and substantial House vibes with a delicious syrupy texture: On his Leitzen EP, Faber Italy delivers three compelling strikes. Intruder is a nocturnal hypnosis loop, larded with spaced-out samples that ripple the tight frequency bands like those sensory anomalies that accompany the buzzing onset of intoxication. Sunset In The Eyes takes a totally different direction, its name making a clear statement: This tune is a summer night's dream written into groove. Rich, bull-bodied bass meets dubby warmth and the breeziness of House.
Universal makes the versatility of Faber Italy come full circle: The seamless catchiness of this track relies on a minimalist arrangement, on functional chords and samples to raise the temperature of the dance floor in no time.

& Dive - Modern Love Affair incl. Remix

The rhythmic ripples of melody in Modern Love Affair waft organically across the warm bubbling of the bassline, just like an early morning mist rising from the perfectly smooth surface of a lake: Both are the same thing, just in a different state. In this track, Sascha Dive & Pornbugs boil down the emotive properties of harmony and the hypnotic potential of repetitive rhythms to an inebriating essence. The bouncy Modern Love Affair remix by Mihai Popoviciu moves through the elegant, all-encompassing soundscape of the original with flowing motions, creating equally powerful momentum. The heavyweight, rolling vibe of Lumina is marbled with an intricate network of harmonies and echoes that seems to be alive inside the lively groove, frequently emitting bright, pulsing flashes of blissful ecstasy.

Mioche mag für viele ein neuer Name sein. Aber das Dancefloor-Potential dieser EP trägt eindeutig die Handschrift eines Menschen, der sich schon lange und viel mit Clubmusik beschäftigt hat – und der schwer davon begeistert ist. Tropique könnte als stehende Druckwelle beschrieben werden, die sich im unendlichen Fluß einer fetten, organischen, analog klingenden Bassline bildet. Warme Flächen und subtile Rhythmus-Wirbel verleihen diesem progressiv-melodischen Kracher den letzten Schliff. Your Tears geht etwas deutlicher in Richtung House. Die schlendernde Lässigkeit eines Offbeat-Grooves mischt sich in diesem Track mit versonnenem Klimpern und den verträumten Echos von Vocal-Samples.

Mioche might be a new name. However, the dancefloor potential of this EP reflects the skills of someone who has been intensely involved with the club scene for a long time already - and who is very passionate about it. Tropique could be described as a standing pressure wave that rises from the infinite flow of a full-bodied, organic, analogue sounding bassline. Warm pads and subtle eddies in the rhythmic structure make this tune a progressive and melodic banger. Your Tears moves a bit further in the direction of House. The swaying casualness of an offbeat groove blends with sunny clinks and tinkles and the breezy echoes of dreamy vocal samples.

The Oddness wickelt uns zwischen die nebeneinander, übereinander, durcheinander fließenden Ebenen seiner geschichteten und geschachtelten Eingängigkeit. Der hypnotische Schwung und ein angedeuteter Hauch von Esoterik in Sweet Rapture verbergen sich in feinen Maserungen und Mustern unter der Oberfläche eines stromlinienförmig designten Grooves. Dazu kommen zwei Versionen von Timboletti: Im Remix setzt der Meister der vertrippten Verspieltheit auf die emotionale Zugkraft von Melodie, im vielsagend betitelten Acid Rumble Remix wabern magische Obertöne und pulsierende, geometrische Echo-Muster durchs Klangbild wie das entfernte Grummeln eines heranziehenden Sommergewitters. Nicht zuletzt haben wir das Vergnügen mit einem perkussiven Tiefflug namens Wildside, dessen sprudelnde Lässigkeit sich vom Kopf in den Körper ausbreitet.

The Oddness wraps us in a flow system of catchiness, its multiple layers moving alongside each other, crossing each other, intertwining and separating with serpentine grace. The hypnotic momentum and the subtle esoteric hints of Sweet Rapture emanate from the intricate grain and texture just under the surface of a streamlined groove. Timboletti came up with two different interpretations of this tune: In the Remix, the master of trippy playfulness employs the emotional power of melody. His aptly titled Acid Rumble Remix fills the stereo panorama with alchemically synthesised overtones and pulsing, geometrical echo patterns, evoking the electrified atmosphere of a summer thunderstorm passing by on the horizon. Last but not least, there's a spectacular departure to the Wildside, a percussive tune that bubbles with a casual attitude and a bold keenness to dance as if there's no tomorrow.

Was Mairos aktuell auf der Agenda hat? Wenn wir seinen gleichnamigen Track als Antwort verstehen dürfen, dann hat es etwas mit Temperaturen von deutlich über 20 Grad zu tun. Und mit frischer Luft, die von großen Lautsprechern in rhythmische Schwingung versetzt wird. Agenda ist ein durchweg melodiöser Track, von der sexy modulierten Bassline bis hinauf ins höchste Frequenzspektrum. Die Harmoniemuster sind dicht gestrickt, gleichzeitig kommt der Titel leicht und luftig rüber. Diese leidenschaftliche Hommage an sommerliches Tanzvergnügen geht mit Folklore weiter. Mairos lässt es hier spätestens im Break so richtig schön klingeln... Das Vocal bleibt angedeutet und ist gerade deshalb so kitzelnd.

What’s on the agenda? If we ask Mairos, he is clearly occupied with something to do with temperatures above 20 degrees - and with fresh air vibrating rhythmically in front of large speaker membranes. His tune Agenda is melodic through and through, from the sexy swing of the bassline to the upper heights of the frequency spectrum. He weaves tight patterns of harmony, but somehow manages to keep up a light, uplifting, and breezy vibe. This passionate nod towards summer and dancing in the open air continues with Folklore. Organic ringing merges into the lively arpeggios of the track, and Mairos uses just the hint of a vocal to create a maximum of drive and lift.

Im Remix von Harro Triptrap dürfen wir dagegen ein intensives Gefühl von Weite zwischen dem Pochen der Kickdrum, dem Verstreichen von Sekunden und Minuten erleben. Auf die funktionalen Elemente reduziert geht diese toolartige Nummer mit beiläufiger Coolness ins Blut wie ein dreifach dosierter Shot vom vibrierenden Clubtresen. Sob feat. Orakull - Horst Ep

Kishe Kishe by Sob feat. Orakull is quite a trip: The title starts as an electroacoustic dance tune, with distinctly analogue vibes and copious a voice that shifts between spoken word hypnosis and emotive singing. And then, the thing rears up into a crescendo of distortion, and all of a sudden we find ourselves dancing to an escalating rock song. The Timboletti remix presents itself in a stripped-down manner, here the rock attitude of the original reflects in the bold bite of the bassline. As it is the signature style of this talented producer, this version feels blissfully tripped-out around the vocal. The Kishe Kishe remix by Florian Rietze leads us into the vaults of a huge industrial building, where big, banging, broken beats reverberate in the dark. In the depths of this club night, the vocal sparkles like a green laser beam. Finally, there is Famine: A tune in which intertwined layers of melody become entangled with each other while dancing with the ghosts of their endless echoes.

Melodic sound has been going strong for quite a while already, and classic musical instruments can often be heard among the frequencies of electronic dance music. However, only very few combine hand-played and circuit-based rhythm and harmony on such a high, virtuous level as Paul A. George Music The reason being arguably that only very few are so talented with the guitar and have so much experience with live concerts as the Australian. That's exactly what makes Polyantha so emotional and intense: Guitar and synthesiser grow around each other organically, sprouting magnificent sonic flowers, their sound colours complementing each other with natural perfection. The beat underneath throbs along in an unobtrusive, yet highly propulsive groove. Then there's Rosalita, a tune that gives full expression to Paul A. George's love for latin sounds. Here the vivacious cathyness of sun-infused strings and claps is extended by the dreamy chanting of a voice.
