Released on August 1, 2025: "Every Rock, Every Half-Truth Under Reason" by US avant-garde metal group Kayo Dot.

On their eleventh regular studio album, "Every Rock, Every Half-Truth under Reason", conceptual and experimental artists KAYO DOT commemorate the 20th anniversary of "Choirs of the Eye" by reuniting the original line-up. This bold musical statement from the ever-changing composer and mastermind Toby Driver marks both a return and a progression from the band's seminal debut by revisiting the compositional practices that defined it while pushing forward into uncharted territory. Rejecting traditional rock structures and the more predictable contours of metal, "Every Rock, Every Half-Truth under Reason" shapes a sound that feels familiar and alien at once, where custom-designed microtonal organs and guitars weave an effort to reconcile the impossible tension between past and future. Moving away from the typical emphasis on low-end frequencies, it floats instead in the upper spectrum, where the textures become more fragile, more intimate, and more abrasive and terrifying. This KAYO DOT album is also haunted by the ghost of a future to come: the spectre of AI-generated creativity. The increasing presence of artificial composition, predictive modelling, and algorithmic aesthetics casts a long shadow over all creative work today, which caused Driver to write in ways that resist prediction, to compose music that does not reveal itself to pattern recognition. Much of the album is an effort to move against the grain of legibility, to make something that slips from the grasp of systems designed to anticipate us.

Released on June 20, 2025: "Confessing Darkness" by German black metal force Imha Tarikat.

On their fourth album, Imha Tarikat are once again pushing hard against all the boundaries that define the genre without ever losing the essential connection to the harsh style. Black metal has always been a much less narrowly defined musical beast than outsiders or jealous gatekeepers have often insinuated. The German black metal innovators have previously made use of all the possibilities that the genre offers while still carving out their own territory. Their dark sonic kingdom is built on two pillars: Musically, a relentless pushing and unstoppable drive forward characterise their sound. "Confessing Darkness" delivers even more of that raw energy than before. The other foundation is a deep emotional intelligence that fully utilises the ability of black metal to express every feeling ranging from purest love to darkest hatred, from severe depression to outbursts of joy. And again, this album takes these personal confessions several steps further as it is all true.

Released on June 13, 2025: "Nocturne" by Finnish black metal shapeshifters Hexvessel.
Listen/order: https://spkr.store/collections/hexvessel
With their seventh full-length, Hexvessel explore the liminal spaces between light and darkness, nature and solitude on an epic album. The ever evolving and shifting Finnish band has reawakened their treasured roots in folk music and psychedelic rock as they artfully weave acoustic interludes, cosmic synths, and spectral piano into the frost-spun threads on their black metal loom. "Nocturne" sounds both familiar and fearlessly progressive as echoes of tradition entwine with a fresh reinvention of their characteristic sound. The seed of this masterpiece was sown by the performance of a commissioned work at Roadburn Festival 2024 that was originally entitled: "Music for Gloaming: A Nocturne". With this album, it arrives fully fleshed in recorded form. This opus magnum blends the raw spirit of Quorthon's black metal with the intricate minimalism of contemporary composers such as Philip Glass, György Ligeti, and Avro Pärt. Its eclectic nature is elevated and underlined by select guest performances.

Released on June 6, 2025: "The Stillness of Dissolution" by Australian dark metal duo Austere.
Listen/purchase: https://spkr.store/collections/austere
With their fifth album "The Stillness of Dissolution", Austere embark on a dark journey that leads through the abyss of time, the inevitable return of order to chaos into the black void. In the words of the poet: everything that arises is worth that it perishes. The new album brings an overall blacker feel to their sound. This slight change of course does not constitute an easy nostalgic return to the old days as Austere remain within the framework of the more mature and defined version of their particular style of depressive black metal, which reflects their greater experience and evolution as artists.

Released on May 23, 2025: "Uumen" by Finnish alternative metal group Ceresian Valot.

When four former members of much loved but sadly disbanded Finnish metal act GHOST BRIGADE got together for a conversation in their hometown Jyväskylä in late 2020, things escalated quickly into an unexpected direction that ultimately led to the birth of CERESIAN VALOT. With multiple songwriters in their new band as well as two vocalists singing in Finnish, guitarist and main songwriter Wille Naukkarinen was confident that the musical style of the new band would change all by itself. Time proved him right, with the sound of the debut album "Uumen" ("Depths") turning out as stylistically very dynamic and multidimensional with a broad range of sound and vision that include alternative, rock, progressive, and various genres of metal among others.

Released on May 16, 2025: "Songs of the Shaman" by Siberian ritual folk duo NYTT LAND.
Listen/order: https://spkr.store/collections/nytt-land
Nytt Land interpret traditional shamanic songs or spells of Siberia's Manchu–Tungus ethno-linguistic groups. These songs use ancient musical techniques such as throat singing and drums and they were recorded in their original language. The latter was done to preserve the power that lies in the sound and the phonetics as well as the rhythm of the texts. This collection of primordial magic in the shape of songs summoning spirits, incantations, and wards has been carefully selected and deliberately excludes spells that are aimed at causing harm.

Released on May 2, 2025: "New Wilderness Gospel" by American folk innovators Lux Interna.
Listen/order: https://spkr.store/collections/lux-interna
With their fifth album, Lux Interna present the centrepiece of a larger ongoing multimedia work that envisions an anthropocenic apocalypse. The seeds of this artistic synthesis were planted during Joshua’s research for his doctoral dissertation, which involved translating and interpreting early modern esoteric manuscripts related to the heterodox mystic Jacob Böhme and his inner circle in Poland, Germany, and the Netherlands. Against the backdrop of a disturbing series of environmental events affecting their live-work space in Northern California, Kathryn and Joshua began collaboratively exploring this emergent world and translating it into imagery, music, and film, which led to the idea of an apocalyptic 'gospel' for the anthropocene. Musically, Lux Interna spun "New Wilderness Gospel" out of diverse musical threads that include desert blues, Appalachian folk, gospel, gothic, psychedelia, post-punk and even, warped elements of 60s girl pop and 80s new wave.

In a unique collaboration, iconic vocalist Aaron Stainthorpe, keyboard player Mark Deeks & cello sorceress Jo Quail unite to perform songs of MY DYING BRIDE, Arð, and Jo Quail's own material together. When label and fest founder Martin Koller received the demo of young Danish doom act Maunah, they were booked a few hours later, which is a unique occurrence. Going solo is quite unique for SPIRITUAL FRONT official page frontman Simone Salvatori, but it is going to happen in Balve next year! And Neun Welten will contribute even two unique moments at Prophecy Fest by celebrating 20 years of "Vergessene Pfade" and also playing an exclusive metal set!

Released on April 11, 2025: "Otra" by Norwegian avant-garde metal stalwards In the Woods...
Listen/purchase: https://spkr.store/collections/in-the-woods
The tracks of "Otra" are surprisingly captivating with melodic tunes dominating the present sound of In the Woods... – although progressive elements and the occasional rough reminder of the Norwegians' harsh past are also regularly shimmering through the fabric of these songs. What sets "Otra" apart from the average heavy work of music is the excellence of composition that shows expert level experience and comes with a seeming ease that makes the achievement even greater. Lyrically, "Otra" revolves around stories connected to the eponymous river that winds for 245 kilometres through the South of Norway and spills into the Skagerrak, the strait that separates the country from Denmark and Sweden, at the band's home in Kristiansand.

Some of the richest music is also the hardest to categorise. With their fifth full-length "Acou", MOON FAR AWAY embark on a musical exploration of the magical nature of sound. The band from the sub-arctic city of Arkhangelsk in Russia's north is studying the mythological cycle of the universe by assigning certain sounds and musical styles that range from the archaic and folklore to liturgical, classical, and even experimental music to each stage of its existence.

Released on March 14, "Harmr", the third album by Dutch folk progeny Thurnin.
Listen/purchase: https://spkr.store/collections/thurnin
"Harmr" was born out of the deep feeling of grief that only love can bring. The title refers to an old Icelandic word that is probably more literally translated as 'grief' while its contemporary meaning rather implies 'sorrow'. The loss of one or even more loved beings is hard to bear for any person. It is therefore hardly surprising that the lower key and a reduced tempo are permeating "Harmr" throughout most of the songs; and much more so than on its predecessor "Útiseta" (2023), on which THURNIN mastermind Jurre Timmer interpreted this numinous act as a way to commune with nature. Yet while the magical dreamworld of THURNIN has turned into a darker and more melancholic twist, there are also the feelings of hope for salvation, loving memories, and glimpses of beauty within the musical context that Timmer established on his debut album "Menhir" (2021).
