European Opera Singing Contest

The competition is a one of a kind contribution to the prestigious music scene in Baden-Württemberg. DEBUT takes place every two years and functions as a launching pad for international careers. It is open to the following vocal categories:

Our winner of the golden Viktoria of DEBUT 2020 Karolina Bengtsson was awarded with this year’s Birgit Nilsson Stipendium.

“What an honour! It is an incredible feeling to be awarded the prestigious Birgit Nilsson Stipendium” said Karolina on receiving the news.”In addition to the honour, it is also recognition – a reinforcing boost to continue following my dreams. My deepest thanks”.

The Stipendium was established in 1973 by the world-famous Swedish soprano Birgit Nilsson herself and aims to support young, talented singers, particularly in the dramatic field.

DEBUT wants to send the deepest congratulations and is very proud of our talented winner 🏆

On August 8, Karolina Bengtsson will give her Stipendium recital in Birgit’s “own” Västra Karup church, which is also part of the Birgit Nilsson Festival.

In his concert „Mythos und Wanderer“ he will sing music by Franz Schubert at the TauberPhilharmonie in Weikersheim, accompanied by the legendary Helmut Deutsch on piano.

In 2012, he won the Golden Viktoria at the DEBUT singing competition in Weikersheim, and since then his career has taken him to the major opera houses and famous stages in Europe: we are talking about Kartal Karagedik, who delights his audiences with his strong baritone and charismatic personality.

In addition to concert and opera repertoire, he is always on the lookout for new discoveries and is passionately dedicated to art song. For his debut with the TauberPhilharmonie, he will be accompanied on the piano by a living legend: Helmut Deutsch has already played with Hermann Prey, Jonas Kaufmann, Diana Damrau and Brigitte Fassbaender.

Music by Franz Schubert is the focus of their recital in Weikersheim: “Mythos und Wanderer” combines the great Wanderer settings by Seidl and Schlegel with music to texts by Goethe and Schiller. A song recital full of depth and drama - immerse yourself with us in fascinating, intimate worlds of sound.

Meisterkurs mit KS Brigitte Fassbaender 👩🏻‍🎓

Heute startet die erste öffentliche Masterclass von DEBUT Concerts mit der weltbekannten Mezzosopranistin Kammersängerin Brigitte Fassbaender.

Die Unterrichtstage vom 20.-22.02. sind für interessiertes Publikum öffentlich✨

Der Unterricht findet täglich von 11.-14.00 und von 15.00-18.00 Uhr statt. Einlass ist jeweils zum Sänger*innenwechsel alle 45 Minuten möglich. Eine Anmeldung ist nicht erforderlich.
