# KR05-015 - B ( ) TONG - Zenihilist (25.04.2025)

"Zenihilist" is the new album by Chris Sigdell. It marks 20 years of research in the obscure and ambient world of hostile soundscapes under the name of b°tong. "Zenihilist" playfully sides nihilism with the mystic teachings of zen. The title is not only a word-play on zen and nihilism, but also a pun on an ordinary German's pronunciation of the English word "the".

b°tong is a dedicated zenihilist and believes in seeing life as a joke. His songs display a wicked sense humour and rely much on the concept of instant spontaneity - or composition on the spot.

Zenihilist took form over less than a year and was made with guitar, synthesiser, samples and voice. It continues the soft ambient approach introduced on 2023's "A Fleeting Moment Of Superabundance".

Nihil is zen is nihil. Zenihilist is coming!

# KR05-014 - grodock - Gesammelte Hintergründe (25.04.2025)

On "Gesammelte Hintergründe", listeners are met with 16 different, intertwined soundscapes. Dense and harmonic frequency textures that shift and dissolve over the course of nearly 50 minutes. Synthesizers and function generator waveforms collide, building into broad fortresses, forming fragments of melodic sequences, and merging into atonal clusters. Altered instrument sounds, such as the rumble of a tuba, the voices of violins, and the tones of harmonicas, blend into dark, booming sound carpets and mix with electronic noise.

Grodock is the ambient and noise project of David Leutkart, the owner of the label Grubenwehr Freiburg. Over the course of the project's 16-year existence, a large number of ambient pieces were created that had not yet been released on physical media. For the album "Gesammelte Hintergründe", they were remastered, reworked, and interwoven.
