DW / Deutsche Welle released their clip about our concert with "The Arabian Passion according to J.S. Bach" on YT, TT and Facebook. Thank You Gaby Reucher! Well done, English, German, and there is also an Arabic version which I'll post. Well, what can I say, I was contemplating about this being the last Sarband concert, but the heartfelt response of the audience and of our musicians taught me that there is a still growing relevance/ importance in our work, so we will keep on knocking on Heaven's Door, this is still what the World Needs Now, so we'll not chicken out!

Noch eine lesenswerte Kritik (SZ) und einige Fotos und Videos von Proben , Soundcheck und Konzert mit der Arabischen Passion auf dem Leipziger Bachfest.

Das Bachfest Leipzig sucht die politische Gegenwart
Auch für die „Arabische Passion“ sind starke Nerven gefragt. Es ist ein Konglomerat der beiden Bach-Passionen und arabischer Musik. Das Ensemble Sarband unter dem Gründungsleiter Vladimir Ivanoff ist auf arabisch-europäische Konzepte spezialisiert. Seit nunmehr 40 Jahren verfolgt es unermüdlich die Idee, beides auf höchstem musikalischem Niveau zusammenzubringen. Trotz der aktuellen politischen Brisanz bleibt die Musik hier Musik und wirkt eher indirekt, also am Ende stärker als alle direkten Empörungsappelle. Manches passt nicht so ganz zusammen, der arabische Erzählfluss ist selbst im rein Instrumentalen ein ganz anderer als die detailkomponierte Musik Bachs, aber das kulturübergreifende Gesamtbild stimmt trotzdem, und die hinreißende Altistin Fadia El-Hage ist ein Erlebnis für sich.
