Kerrigan are one of the most promising newcomers from Germany playing traditional heavy metal. The band was formed in Freiburg in 2019 by Bruno Schotten and Jonas Weber. The duo recorded a demo tape consisting of original compositions “Intruders”, “Force And Will” and “Heavy Metal 2020” plus a cover version of “Rest In Peace” by Wolf (UK). »Heavy Metal 2020« was later released by Fu***ng Kill Records on tape and vinyl (and re-issued by HRR).

For their first full-length, Kerrigan inked a deal with HRR. »Bloodmoon« was recorded with the help of session drummer Jonathan Döring, an old friend of the band, and received very favorable reviews in the metal press when it was released back in 2023. Together with Jakob on bass, Jonathan now is a regular member of Kerrigan.

Three years after »Bloodmoon«, it’s time for more.

As a little taster for the new album, the band has decided to issue a ltd. edition 7” single. The A-side “The Ice Witch” is one of the catchiest and most striking numbers off the upcoming full-length, whereas the exclusive flipside “You Just Haven’t Earned It Yet Baby”, a breathtaking cover version of a song by The Smiths, marries the iconic 80s vibe with melodic heavy metal.

Bruno explains: “Jonas and I have a similar taste when it comes to music of the eighties. A lot of our inspiration does not directly come from metal but from other (guitar-driven) music from the same period. Whereas last time around we covered a true NWOBHM classic – ‘Rest In Peace’ by Wolf – we now wanted to re-visit a band we both adore for their songwriting: namely The Smiths. Our interpretation of ‘You Just Haven’t Earned It Yet Baby’ will only be available as the B-Side of the ‘The Ice Witch’ single. We just wanted to do something special."

Dresden-based black/thrash newcomers Lead Injector present their debut album "Witching Attack" – an uncompromising homage to classic extreme metal, recorded over seven intensive days in August 2025 at Stereoid Studios in Schönfels, Saxony. "It was a really awesome time, we experimented a lot, racked our brains and learned a great deal," recalls vocalist/bassist Leo about the sessions.

Founded in 2022, the trio is the first serious band for all three members after experiences in solo projects and school ensembles, and they quickly found their place in the local scene with their 2024 demo "From the Crypts... of Hell". "Witching Attack" now combines re-recorded demo tracks with fresh material written in the meantime.

From the beginning, Lead Injector have demonstrated a knack for catchy song structures that sets them apart from average acts in this style. "We make sure that each of our songs is individual and unique, no two sound alike," Leo emphasizes. This approach creates variety and memorability – qualities not taken for granted in the genre.

With "Witching Attack", Lead Injector make a statement: extreme metal with recognition value, authentically produced and carried by the energy of a hungry young band that will significantly help shape the scene in the future.

Zepter are a new traditional heavy metal band from Austria. The project started in January 2024. A few months later, an EP called »Inferno« was issued on cassette in a limited edition of 100 copies. (vinyl + CD followed shortly after as well).

“We have been knowing each other for years and have played together in other bands,” explains guitarist/vocalist Lukas about the formation of Zepter. “One day, the idea to form a traditional heavy metal band came up. And this is exactly what we did. We had our first rehearsal in January 2024 and the EP was published in April the same year. Everything happened really quick.”

HRR will release Zepter’s self-titled debut album, which Lukas describes as “authentic heavy metal of the old school, with lots of catchy hooks and tasty twin-guitar harmony parts”. According to him, “it should come across like a mixture of Thin Lizzy and UFO of the Schenker era, combined with elements of early speed metal by the likes of Acid and Slayer, as if they had been already around in 1978.”

With songs like “Exterminator”, Zepter’s music transports quite a strong NWOBHM vibe, with hints of Trespass and Tygers Of Pan Tang, first and foremost. “That’s true,” says the band’s guitarist and vocalist, “for this project the NWOBHM is a big inspiration. But it’s not the only one. We are all listening to different stuff, from blackended death metal to prog, post-punk and film music. Our smallest common nominator is the NWOBHM though. And that’s where Zepter comes in. Some specific NWOBHM bands which have inspired us are early Maiden (everything from »The Soundhouse Tapes« up until »Killers«), Saxon, Witchfinder General, Dark Star, Raven, Saracen, Angel Witch and Satan.”
