Exactly a year ago, I took a flight to Lisbon and embarked on a journey with some new people whom today I consider very close friends.
On this trip, I brought my little GoPro and my old trusty analogue camera. Just for fun. But after having ridden through Portugal for 6 days, and met new friends for life, I sat down when I got home, and looked through the GoPro footage and decided I wanted to make an edit for my personal memory, and as the hours went, I got hooked and that became the beginning of the YouTube channel The Scandi Flick.
The first every film has of today more than 22.000 views, and the channel in total today, one year later, has more than 100.000 views in total and the most amazing 2.796 subscribers.
YouTube will never be my job. And I don't really care about the view count. What I care about mostly is making memories for me and my fellow riders as we ride together, for sh*ts and giggles. BUT I have to say, all the comments I get from this makes me happy. It makes me happy to hear that people are riding along with us, get inspired to do more trips them selves, or even go out to buy a bike and get into the ADV game. It really makes my day, when a comment pops up and someone tells me the joy they get out of watching the films, and THAT I care about. I will never make click bait videos, or anything for that matter to get more subscribers or views. All I care about is trying my very best, to make films that I and other people will enjoy, inspire people to get out there and do that ride they have dreamt of since forever, or never knew they had dreamt of.
Thank you to all you wonderful people I have met along the way so far. The dark months are upon us, but I can't wait for sunsets at 11pm and long rides with all of you. Thank you riding along with me, either on the bike, or through the screen.
Thank you Johannes Dalen for inviting me on this very first trip to Portugal that started it all one year ago today. And thank you Ingvar Orten, Diogo Guerra, Stuart Twiss, Peter Frensemeyer for riding along with me on this trip.
Thank you Rasmus Fagerlund, Sven Petterson, Stefan Werner, Jacques Crowter for countless hours of riding through the Balkans and thank you Anders Vang and Morten Wissing for countless ours on the trails in Sweden.
See you on the trails.
Daniel, The Scandi Flick
