Sundsvall is not just where the story starts. It’s where it returns - with the Swedish premiere of Portrait of a Confused Father, opening this year’s Filmfest Sundsvall.

For director Gunnar Hall Jensen, this screening carries a special meaning.
This is the hometown of his son Jonathan - the film’s main character - whose life and loss form the emotional core of a story 22 years in the making.

The film follows Gunnar’s attempt to connect with Jonathan as their bond is pulled apart by time, digital temptations and painful distance.

Jonathan is no longer here - but in Sundsvall, his story now unfolds on the big screen, through a father’s honest, loving, and unflinching lens.

“A natural choice for the opening film,” said programmer Andreas Fock, “with thematic weight and a strong local connection.”

🚨 Big news for DR Sales and Nordic drama: FX has greenlit the U.S. adaptation of DR Drama’s acclaimed series Cry Wolf – starring Olivia Colman and Brie Larson, and adapted by Sarah Treem (The Affair, House of Cards)

Originally created by Maja Jul Larsen, Cry Wolf examines the emotional and systemic ripples of a teenager’s allegation of abuse. The series premiered on DR1 in 2020 and has since been sold to over 70 territories – a powerful testament to the story’s resonance.

👏 A huge congratulations to everyone involved in making this deal happen. And a special shout-out to our own Camilla Maria Saabye Bjerregaard for her incredible work in bringing Cry Wolf to the global stage.
