Astypalea Island - Dodecanese
Astypalea doesn’t introduce itself gently, it hits you all at once, the white houses cascading down the hill, the alleys running like threads between them, and at the very top, Kastro, the old Venetian castle standing there like a promise, holding the whole Chora together in a way that feels both historic and completely alive. You look at it, and that’s the moment it gives you that big wow.
I walked through the lanes below it, followed the curves of the eco island, and stopped at bays so blue they didn’t feel real. Every turn felt intentional, like someone designed the island for people who love stories, real ones. Maybe it’s the butterfly shape, maybe it’s the couples moving through the village hand in hand, or maybe it’s the way Kastro watches over everything without saying a word. Whatever it is, Astypalea stays with you fast.❤️
