Even if it sounds like a lie, you will not find corn growing alone in any forest or wildland in the world. It doesn't exist in the wild.
About 9,000 years ago, farmers in Mexico created it little by little from teocintle, a skinny herb with tiny, hard grains that looked almost nothing like the scrub we know today.
Generation after generation they were choosing the best seeds, until they transformed that wild grass into the bold, golden corn of today.
🗣 In other words: if tomorrow the farmers of the world stopped sowing it, the corn would disappear in a few years.
✅ It's the only large crop that depends 100% on the hands of the field to continue existing.
What variety of corn do they grow in your area?
