Manuel Peter Neuer, born on 27 March 1986 in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, is widely regarded as one of the greatest goalkeepers in football history. He began his professional career at Schalke 04 in 2005, where he made his mark by helping the club win the DFB-Pokal in 2011. Later that year, he joined Bayern Munich, where his outstanding performances and leadership contributed to numerous Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal, and UEFA Champions League titles. Neuer is credited with revolutionizing the role of the modern “Sweeper Keeper,” known for his ability to control the ball outside the penalty area as well as making world-class saves. Internationally, he debuted for Germany in 2009, shone at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, and played a decisive role in Germany’s World Cup victory in Brazil in 2014. As captain of the national team for several years, Neuer earned recognition worldwide, winning multiple awards such as the IFFHS World’s Best Goalkeeper, and leaving a lasting legacy in both club and international football.
