I am incredibly honored to share that my work as a founder and composer is featured in the new edition of The Savvy Musician 2.0 by David Cutler, published by Oxford University Press.
In the chapter "Follow the Data," David explores the philosophy we’ve built at Oclassica. For too long, talented classical musicians have been told to focus only on the "What do I want to play?" mindset. Unfortunately, the data shows that even world-class solo albums often struggle to reach more than 10 to 50 streams a day in the digital marketplace.
At Oclassica, we’ve shifted the question to: "What do listeners want to hear?" By treating repertoire as a strategic asset and using marketplace data to drive our compilations, we’ve proven that classical music can thrive in the streaming era. A personal example mentioned in the book is my own Sonnet in C Major—which, through strategic placement, grew from a single release to reaching over 20,000 monthly listeners.
This isn't just about "selling out" to algorithms; it’s about ensuring that beautiful music actually reaches human ears. Being recognized by a prestigious institution like Oxford University Press validates our mission: to bridge the gap between overlooked talent and a global audience.
Huge thanks to David Cutler for highlighting our Estonia-based label and our commitment to modernizing the industry.
Classical music isn't dying—it's evolving. And we’re proud to be leading the charge.
