The Daily Update (For April 4):
Status of Positions:
Donetsk:
- Geolocated footage published on April 3 indicates that Russian forces likely advanced in southern Bakhmut closer to the Avangard stadium. Russian forces attacked Orikhovo-Vasylivka (11km northwest of Bakhmut), Khromove (2km west of Bakhmut), and Ivanivske (6km west of Bakhmut). Geolocated footage published on April 4 indicates that Russian forces made marginal gains west of Novobakhmutivka (13km northwest of Avdiivka). Geolocated footage published on April 2 indicates that Ukrainian forces likely recaptured positions northwest of Novoselivka (17km northeast of Avdiivka) and advanced close to the settlement.
Eastern Ukraine:
- Russian forces conducted unsuccessful attacks on Kreminna, Nevske (20km northwest of Kreminna), Dibrova (5km southwest of Kreminna), and Serebrianska forest area (10km south of Kreminna). Russian troops attacked Ukrainian positions near Zhuravka gully (18km west of Kreminna) and elements of the 1st Guards Tank Army (Western Military District) attacked Ukrainian positions near Kuzemivka (14km northwest of Svatove). Geolocated footage shows a limited Ukrainian advance northeast of Verkhnokamianske (18km south of Kreminna).
Southern Ukraine:
- Shahed drones struck the military airfield in Shkilnyi Raion and Odesa Aircraft Repair Plant in Odesa City. Russian forces struck agricultural territory and industrial areas in the Kherson City and Beryslav, Kherson Oblast directions with guided bombs from Su-35 aircraft.
Ukraine/Russia:
- The ex-head of Antonov State Enterprise, Serhii Bychkov, was charged with official negligence leading to the destruction of the Mriya aircraft.
- Ukraine has obtained 3,200 drones for use by the Army.
EU/NATO/UN:
- Poland and Ukraine signed a joint memorandum for the reconstruction of Ukraine and production of 155mm shells.
- The Czech Republic will send $30 million in military aid that is currently not being used.
- Poland delivers eight more MiG-29s bringing the total to 12 jets delivered.
- Latvia reinstates mandatory military service for males between 18-27 years old.
