Singapore’s Penguin Shipyard this week launched Penguin Refresh, the first of three all-electric ferries being built for parent Penguin International’s Electric Dream project. Under a contract with Shell Singapore signed in 2021, the new 200-passenger Incat Crowther designed single-deck ferries will be used to transport passengers between mainland Singapore’s Pasir Panjang ferry terminal and Shell’s Energy and Chemicals Park on the southern island of Pulau Bukom....

Ports of Indiana-Burns Harbor opened the 2023 international shipping season April 11 with the arrival of Polsteam’s Isadora, a bulk carrier coming from Ijmuiden, Netherlands, through the St. Lawrence Seaway and Great Lakes. Hobart, Tasmania, shipbuilder Richardson Devine Marine has handed over for delivery the 53 meter passenger ferry Kilimanjaro VIII following sea trials. Designed by Incat Crowther, the 620-passenger vessel has been built for Tanzanian ferry operator Azam Marine. It has now been loaded in board a transport ship and is the operator’s 11th Incat Crowther-designed vessel, eight of them built by Richardson Devine Marine....

The Tampa Bay Pilots Association has taken delivery of Tampa, a Chesapeake Class pilot boat originally built by Gladding-Hearn Shipbuilding in 2003, after an extensive refit at the Somerset, Mass., shipyard. The boat was ordered when Gladding-Hearn first introduced the Chesapeake class of mid-size, high-speed launches. In 2015, the Tampa pilots also took delivery of the shipyard’s first Chesapeake Class MKII, which incorporates the performance benefits of Volvo Penta’s IPS 2 pod system....

Canada’s largest shipbuilder, Levis, Quebec, based Davie Shipbuilding has at last become an official partner in Canada’s National Shipbuilding Strategy (NSS).
