💡 JAMA Insights: (point-of-care ultrasound) is an endorsed, real-time imaging modality for diagnosing community-acquired , providing immediate, radiation-free results while being portable and accessible.

Compared with chest radiography, POCUS demonstrates higher sensitivity and specificity for pneumonia when performed by appropriately trained clinicians, and is particularly useful when CT is unavailable.

Typical findings of pneumonia include B-lines, consolidations, parapneumonic effusions, and air bronchograms, each with variable diagnostic performance.

Integration into practice should consider local expertise, standardized protocols, and complementarity with history, examination, and other diagnostics.

For babies born prematurely or requiring neonatal intensive care, Immuno Supportive Oral Care (ISOC) is an evidence-informed practice in which small amounts of a mother's own colostrum or breast milk are gently applied to the inside of the baby's mouth before full milk feeds begin.

This simple intervention aims to support immune protection, provide positive oral stimulation and complement family-centred care, allowing vulnerable newborns to benefit from the unique protective properties of human milk from the earliest days of life. 💙

Erythropoietin in HIE

Among infants with moderate or severe neonatal hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy receiving therapeutic hypothermia, adjunctive did not reduce death or moderate or severe motor or cognitive disability at 2 years vs placebo.

Secondary outcomes, including death, cerebral palsy, motor deficit, and cognitive deficit, were also similar between groups.
