**Juba, June 12, 2025** โ€“ In a bold move to bolster food security and stimulate extensive local food production, President Salva Kiir Mayardit has directed the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security to provide tractors and farming tools to farmers nationwide.

This directive emerged during a meeting with Unity State Governor Riek Bim Top, where the President received updates on the region's agricultural progress and overall conditions.

President Kiir stressed the vital role of empowering farmers to cultivate food domestically, advocating for a shift away from dependence on imported goods. He pointed out that equipping farmers with essential machinery would not only enhance food availability but also foster national stability and economic development.

The Governor reported that Unity State remains largely peaceful, despite sporadic incidents of cattle raiding. He mentioned that community leaders are actively engaging with armed youth to persuade them to relinquish their weapons to the government, as part of ongoing efforts to uphold peace and stability in the area.

During the meeting, Vice President Taban outlined his extensive tour of the region in which he made several stopovers to engage directly with local communities. He emphasised the spirit of peace and stability and relayed President Kiir's message that South Sudan would never return to war.

The Vice President reaffirmed the government's unwavering commitment to peace and development in the country. He commended growing children's enrollment in schools around the country and thanked parents for their role in propagating learning.

The VP said the peace message was received warmly by the citizens of Unity State, and that they fully support further efforts toward achieving stability. He reiterated the need to develop much improved roads infrastructure to enhance connectivity and spur economic growth.

In a major economic update, the Vice President announced the successful functioning of the Mini Oil Refinery in Unity State, saying the facility is expected to bring tangible benefits to the people of Unity, Warrap, Ruweng and other nearby areas.

In a thrilling match, the Community Team led 1-0 until Mr. Raymon Marko Deng Thembeny from South Sudan rescued the diplomatic team by scoring the equalizing goal, bringing the game to 1-1. His crucial strike reignited team spirit and took the match to penaltiesโ€”where the Diplomatic Team triumphed 4-2.

B. They will examine the legal and financial aspects of the agreement to ensure compliance with all pertinent national laws.

C. The committee aims to facilitate a reduction in electricity tariffs to more manageable levels by reassessing the structure and shareholding arrangements between the government and the Israel Construction and Development Company concerning their stakes in Juba Electricity Distribution (Jedico).
