Hot, delicious meals, fresh from the flame,
Soon are attacked, bacteria stake their claim.
Fungi too, begin their feast,
Breaking down food, their spoil increases.
Acids and toxins start to rise,
The once-tasty meal now a bitter surprise.
No longer can we consume what's sour,
It’s been conquered by nature’s unseen power.
To guard our food from this swift decay,
We reheat it in fire throughout the day.
The heat kills off the harmful foe,
Preserving the meal, allowing it to grow.
Just like food, our faith too, faces plight,
Three enemies attack it, both day and night.
Desires of the self, the world’s vain lure,
And whispers of devils, both hidden and pure.
These forces all combine and creep,
Causing our faith to rot, to sleep.
Without renewal, our hearts decay,
And our Iman slowly slips away.
So every day, we must renew,
Our faith, our trust, in the One who’s true.
Speak of the Hereafter, of Allah’s might,
Reflect on His blessings, day and night.
With Quran’s recitation, with dhikr so pure,
These are the shields that help us endure.
And with teary eyes, we seek His aid,
For guidance and strength, we daily pray:
"O Turner of hearts, keep ours steady,
In Your obedience, ever ready."
