A viral video on social media has put the spotlight on the Egyptian Museum in Cairo, but not for its pharaohs, but for the comical, albeit accidental, falls of its visitors. The cause is a design detail so subtle that it turns out to be a real visual "trick." The museum features an imposing sculpture of a pharaoh surrounded by a thin pool of real water. This pool, intended as a subtle barrier to protect the piece, is so well integrated into the floor and so transparent that most tourists mistake it for a dry surface.
