Antidepressant-like activities of Entada africana Guill. & Perr. (Fabaceae) leaf extract and its chloroform and n-butanol fractions in mice: exploring mechanistic pathways
An ethnomedicinal survey identified Entada africana as a traditional remedy for mental illnesses, with its crude extract showing antidepressant effects. This study examined the antidepressant activities of its chloroform and n-butanol fractions. The mechanisms underlying these effects were also explored to understand their potential pathways of action.

Background An ethnomedicinal survey revealed the role of Entada africana against mental illnesses, and its crude extract was reported to possess antidepressant properties. In the present study, the antidepressant activities of chloroform and n-butanol fractions of Entada africana were investigated,....

Different aspects of bacterial polyethylene terephthalate biodegradation
Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is a synthetic plastic commonly used in single-use products. Its widespread use leads to environmental accumulation. Although incineration, landfilling, and recycling are used for disposal, they often produce secondary toxic wastes.

Background Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is a kind of synthetic plastic used in the production of single-use disposable materials. Widespread use of PET leads to its accumulation in the environment. Incineration, landfilling, and recycling are some solutions to this problem. However, these method...

Cecal volvulus on top of Ladd’s band: a case report and review of literature
Cecal volvulus is a rare but significant cause of bowel obstruction, presenting both diagnostic and therapeutic challenges. This uncommon form of closed-loop obstruction arises from a twist in the mesentery, leading to marked dilatation of the cecum. The resulting massive colonic distension can obscure radiological signs, making it difficult for many radiologists to identify characteristic features indicative of cecal volvulus. This article explore the crucial role of imaging in the diagnosis and management of this distinctive type of bowel obstruction.

Overview of the histopathological and immunohistochemical characteristics of neuroendocrine neoplasms
Neuroendocrine neoplasms (NENs) are rare, diverse tumors arising from neuroendocrine cells, varying by site, behavior, and patient outcomes. This review discusses their pathological, immunohistochemical, and molecular features aiding diagnosis and early detection. It also highlights emerging biomarkers and emphasizes the need for personalized, prognostically guided treatments.

Anthropology employs scientific methods to identify and quantify inter-individual variations in body structure and function. Anthropometry, a subfield, evaluates craniofacial dysmorphology in genetic disorders and detects phenotypic differences in diseases with shared causes. This study is part of a comprehensive cross-sectional analysis of craniofacial and oral features in Egyptian school children. It aims to establish norms for Egyptian male school children and assess differences in facial measurements in a child with Prader–Willi syndrome (PWS).
