Yesterday, Art D’Égypte by CulturVator opened the exhibition Tale of Two Cities: Geography and Mystery at the Graeco-Roman Museum in Alexandria. Running until September 20, the show brings together the works of Italian artists Marina Ballo Charmet and Stefano Cagol, curated by Alessandro Castiglioni and promoted by the Italian Cultural Institute in Cairo with the support of the Italian Ministry of Culture.

First presented at the MA*GA Museum in Gallarate earlier this year, the project explores the intersection of geography, heritage, and contemporary issues, placing photography in dialogue with Alexandria’s layered history as a Mediterranean crossroads.

Nadine Abdel Ghaffar, founder of Art D’Égypte, noted that the exhibition “marks a pivotal moment, where contemporary art enters into a living dialogue with thousands of years of history.” Castiglioni described the works as “an act of awareness and discovery—exploring the boundaries of knowing and unknowing.”

The exhibition highlights the enduring cultural partnership between Egypt and Italy, reaffirming Alexandria’s role as a bridge between civilizations, past and present.

MedFest Egypt Announces 2025 Short Film Jury Led by Former Berlinale Director!

The 7th edition of MedFest Egypt (Sept 17–21, AUC Tahrir Square) will spotlight the theme “Transitions”, with 31 films from 15 countries competing in its official short film competition.

The jury will be chaired by Mariette Rissenbeek, former director of the Berlin International Film Festival, alongside Sameh Alaa (Palme d’Or-winning director), Yousra El Lozy (award-winning actress), Marwan Omara (filmmaker and program director at Coventry Cairo), and Dr. Olfat Allam (consultant psychologist).

Founder Dr. Mina El-Naggar emphasized MedFest’s mission of merging cinema with health awareness, while Rissenbeek praised the festival’s unique focus on mental and physical wellbeing in film, calling it “an honour” to lead the jury.
