For almost a decade, Instagram has been the place where I’ve shown up the most. But Instagram has changed beyond recognition in that time.

I really want to invest my time in a space where I can actually talk to you properly.

Somewhere I can share the longer stories behind the things that I do and am learning.

If Instagram is where I show you what I’m creating, Substack can be where I tell you the story behind it.

This week I’m sharing the story behind my Beauty Pie candle collaboration, a project that has been 19 months in the making and has taught me more than I ever expected.

If you’ve followed me here for years, I’d genuinely love you to come and join me there too.

I often get DMs asking where pieces in the Black House are from, so I thought I’d share a few of our most asked about corners 🤍 Starting with the spot under the stairs...

Shirt WNU
Jeans WHISTLES
Vase ZARA HOME
Piano Vintage Petrof Pianos
Lamp Designed by myself

One of my favourite corners of our living room 🤍 I love how the built in bench, natural oak and softer curved furniture all work together here. It’s become such a cosy little corner of the Black House, especially when the afternoon light comes through.

Fireplace Stûv UK
Frame OKA
Coffee table Dunelm
Chair NEXT
Wall lamp Soho Home
Custom cabnitery Waxed Floors Luxury Wood Flooring
Wreath Verity

I love the simplicity of this space. Oversized artwork and statement lighting add impact, while the soft textures keep it feeling calm and considered.

Walls DETALE CPH
Art Custom piece from Rajan Seth
Sofa Sofa.com - Handmade to order furniture
Rug Castlery UK

I’ll never tire of this bathroom 🤍 The raw plaster, warm wood and brass details bring so much warmth to such a simple space.

I just wanted to say thank you for all the kind words around my candle collection with BEAUTY PIE. The response has been incredible, and it’s been so lovely to welcome lots of new faces here too.

So I thought it was a good time to reintroduce myself… I’m Reena Simon, founder of The Intentional Home®, author, designer and creative director.

For me, interiors have always been about so much more than how a home looks. I’m fascinated by how scent, light, nature, texture, scent and the everyday rituals within our spaces can completely change how we feel.

My Scandinavian-inspired approach to design is also shaped by my South Asian heritage and my own experiences of home. The Black House, our family home, has become a huge part of that story and a space where I’ve been able to explore what intentional living really means to me.

Here I share interiors, design, travel, the things inspiring me and, increasingly, how The Intentional Home® is growing beyond the home into objects, rituals and sensory experiences.
If you’re new here, welcome 🤍 I’m so happy to have you.

I’m officially back on Substack 🤍 Comment SCENT and i’ll send you the link to read

I never really decided to stop writing there. Life and work got busy, the girls needed more of me, and something had to give. I always knew I wanted to come back when I had the space to really enjoy it again.

The launch of my candle collection with BEAUTY PIE, and all the lovely messages you’ve sent me about it, has reignited something I really missed: writing, sharing and going a little deeper into the ideas behind my work.

So it felt right that my first post back should be about scent.

Scent is one of the six pillars of The Intentional Home® and, to me, it’s the emotional architecture of a home. Something we can’t see, but that has such a huge influence on how a space makes us feel.

My first Substack back is now live, and next time I’ll be getting into all the good stuff behind creating my candle collection with BEAUTY PIE .

ad Holiday days 🤝🏽 Holiday nights

Our days at were spent by the pool, on the beach and, of course, fitting in as many games of Uno as possible.

The evenings were slower. Long dinners, warm air, more Uno (of course😂) and nowhere we needed to be.

Same place, completely different feeling. That’s what I love most about travelling... seeing how a space changes throughout the day.

Day or night? 🤍

Honoured to be featured in THE GLOSS MAGAZINE’s What’s On My Beauty Shelf 🤍

I’ve always believed beauty is less about having more and more about choosing well. Just like our homes, the products we reach for every day should feel considered, timeless and bring a small sense of joy to the everyday.

Sharing a few of the rituals and favourites that have earned a permanent place on my shelf. Thank you, THE GLOSS MAGAZINE, for having me ✨
