Las Teresitas is one of the most famous beaches on the island of Tenerife, located just north of the capital city, Santa Cruz. Unlike many of Tenerifeโs natural volcanic beaches, which are covered in dark sand, Las Teresitas is known for its golden shoreline. The sand was imported from the Sahara Desert in the 1970s, giving the beach a bright, tropical appearance that contrasts beautifully with the surrounding mountains and lush palm trees.
Protected by a large breakwater, the waters here are calm and shallow, making it an ideal spot for swimming, families with children, and those who prefer a relaxing dip rather than big waves. The beach stretches for about 1.5 kilometers and offers plenty of space, even during busy summer days. Along the promenade, visitors will find bars and restaurants serving fresh seafood and traditional Canarian dishes, perfect for enjoying after a swim.
Las Teresitas is also popular for its accessibility: itโs only a short drive from Santa Cruz, and there are regular bus connections. With its postcard-perfect scenery, safe waters, and welcoming atmosphere, Las Teresitas is often considered one of the most beautiful and enjoyable beaches in Tenerife.
