⚡ Real-Life Electricity Bill Review

I recently reviewed an electricity bill for someone who thought they were already on a good tariff.

At first glance, everything looked fine. The bill wasn’t unusually high, so there didn’t seem to be a problem.

However, after taking a closer look, we discovered a few interesting things:

🔹 The price per kWh had increased compared to when the contract was first signed.
🔹 There was an additional service included that wasn’t really needed.
🔹 The contracted power could potentially be reduced based on the property’s actual usage.
🔹 The original promotional rate had already expired.

These are the kind of details that many people never notice. Most of us simply look at the total amount due each month, without checking whether we’re still on the most suitable tariff.

After reviewing the customer’s consumption and needs, we found a more suitable option with a stable rate and no unnecessary extras.

I’m sharing this because I believe it’s important for people to understand their electricity bills. Reviewing your bill doesn’t necessarily mean changing supplier—it simply means making sure you’re paying a fair price for the energy you use.

Over the coming weeks, I’ll be sharing more real-life examples, useful tips, and easy-to-understand explanations to help everyone better understand their electricity bills. 💡

⚡ Caso real: una factura que parecía normal, pero no lo era tanto

Hace unos días estuve revisando la factura de una persona que pensaba que estaba pagando un precio bastante razonable por su electricidad.

A simple vista, la factura no parecía especialmente alta. Sin embargo, al analizarla con más detalle, vimos varias cosas importantes:

🔹 El precio del kWh había aumentado respecto al que contrató inicialmente.
🔹 Estaba pagando un servicio adicional que apenas utilizaba.
🔹 Su potencia contratada podía estar ligeramente por encima de lo que realmente necesitaba.
🔹 La tarifa promocional que tenía al principio ya había finalizado.

Este tipo de cambios muchas veces pasan desapercibidos porque las compañías no siempre los explican de una manera fácil de entender. La mayoría de las personas simplemente miran el importe final, pero no revisan cuánto están pagando realmente por la energía, la potencia o los servicios adicionales.

Después de revisar su consumo y sus hábitos, encontramos una opción más adecuada para su situación, con un precio más estable y sin servicios innecesarios.

Comparto este caso porque revisar una factura no significa necesariamente cambiar de compañía. A veces solo sirve para entender mejor lo que estamos pagando y comprobar que nuestra tarifa sigue siendo conveniente.

Today we’re starting with a real customer case.

A client contacted me through Facebook because she had noticed a significant increase in her recent electricity bills, but she didn’t understand why.

She previously had a tariff with two different rates:

⚡ €0.10/kWh during promotional hours
⚡ €0.14/kWh during non-promotional hours

However, after reviewing her latest bills, we discovered that Iberdrola had updated the tariff conditions and she was now paying:

⚠️ €0.16/kWh during promotional hours
⚠️ €0.28/kWh during non-promotional hours

On top of the increase in both the energy and contracted power prices, we also found several additional charges, including home electrical protection cover and other added services that were making the bill even more expensive.

After carrying out a personalised study and comparing different suppliers, we were able to offer her a stable tariff with Gana Energía at €0.11/kWh, 24 hours a day, with no need to worry about promotional time periods.

Just from the reduction in the energy price, the estimated saving is approximately:

💰 €25 per month
💰 €300 per year

And that does not yet include the additional savings from reducing the contracted power price and removing unnecessary added services.

Sometimes we are not using more electricity. We are simply paying higher prices without realising it.

Hoy comenzamos con un caso real de una clienta que contactó conmigo a través de Facebook porque había notado una subida considerable en sus últimas facturas de electricidad, pero no sabía exactamente cuál era el motivo.

Anteriormente tenía una tarifa con dos precios:

⚡ 0,10 €/kWh en horas promocionadas
⚡ 0,14 €/kWh en horas no promocionadas

Sin embargo, al revisar sus dos últimas facturas, comprobamos que Iberdrola había actualizado las condiciones y estaba pagando:

⚠️ 0,16 €/kWh en horas promocionadas
⚠️ 0,28 €/kWh en horas no promocionadas

Además del aumento en el precio de la energía y la potencia, encontramos varios cargos adicionales, entre ellos un seguro de protección eléctrica del hogar y otros servicios añadidos que incrementaban todavía más la factura.

Después de realizar un estudio personalizado y comparar diferentes compañías, conseguimos ofrecerle una tarifa estable con Gana Energía a 0,11 €/kWh durante las 24 horas del día, sin tener que estar pendiente de horarios promocionados.

Solo con el cambio del precio de la energía, el ahorro estimado es de aproximadamente:

💰 25 € al mes
💰 300 € al año

Y a este ahorro todavía habría que añadir la reducción en el precio de la potencia y la eliminación de los servicios adicionales que no necesita.

Muchas veces no consumimos más electricidad: simplemente estamos pagando precios más altos sin darnos cuenta.

Please be advised that, from 1 August, our regular customer service through our online information channels will be temporarily limited.

During this period, only cases considered strictly urgent will be attended to, particularly those involving supply interruptions or incidents requiring immediate action.

Throughout August, we will continue working internally on the preparation of offers, the organisation of ongoing matters and the planning of this new professional stage. However, as we will be on holiday, there will be no fixed working schedule and regular customer service will not be available.

We are going on holiday.

Like any human being, we also need time to rest, disconnect and recharge. If we were artificial intelligence, perhaps a power socket, a few batteries or a system update would be enough, but for the time being, we still need a holiday 😎

Normal activity will resume on 1 September, with a renewed structure, new services and all the energy needed to embrace this new and improved stage.

The opening of an office for in-person customer service is also planned for September. The location will be officially announced once it has been confirmed.

August will be dedicated to rest, internal reorganisation and the preparation of this new project, which we are approaching with great enthusiasm and excitement.

Como cualquier persona humana, también necesitamos descansar, desconectar y recuperar energías. Si fuéramos inteligencia artificial, probablemente nos bastaría con un enchufe, unas pilas o una actualización del sistema, pero, por el momento, seguimos necesitando vacaciones 😎

La actividad habitual se retomará el próximo 1 de septiembre, con una estructura renovada, nuevos servicios y toda la energía necesaria para afrontar esta nueva etapa y versión mejorada.

Asimismo, está prevista la apertura de una oficina de atención presencial al público a partir del mes de septiembre. La ubicación será comunicada oficialmente una vez quede confirmada.

El mes de agosto estará destinado al descanso, la reorganización interna y la preparación de este nuevo proyecto con muchísimas ganas e ilusión.
