Kaosting on the eastern side of Island, offers a shallow reef which turns into a sandy slope ridge with ledges perfect for small creatures to make their homes.
Glide slowly over the bottom to spot all manner of marine life from blennies and dwarf lionfish to crinoid cuttlefish and pegasus seamoths. You'll discover hermit crabs and colourful shrimp, look closely for minute molluscs such as pygmy squid and you may even be lucky to see an algae octopus!

Happy from the Pygmy Squid!!! Idiosepius Pygmaeus, is a species of bobtail squid which typically inhabits the shallow sea grass beds which we have around Island
Here's 3 Fun Facts for you;
1. They have a special organ which allows them to attach to sea grass to prevent drifting
2. At maturity they grow to max 20mm
3. They eat glass shrimp - which are far bigger in size! (pic 2)

These fabulous little creatures are typically spotted during night dives, when they are more active hunting and our torch light picks them up. But they may also be seen during the day if you keep your eyes peeled.

The Rubble is Where the Magic Happens - and this is so true of our local dive site "Quillano". As you descend down the line you'll see a beautiful coral encrusted ridge, which whilst fascinating in itself, is not the main focus of our dive.
Descend a little further to the bottom at 23m and you come to the seabed, with rubble and small patches of coral, anemones, crinoids and algae. At first glance this is nothing but then your guides will start pointing out all the good stuff; Seahorses, frogfish, seamoths, ghost pipefish, octopus, nudis, crabs and shrimps in many different varieties.

Just remember to keep an eye on is your bottom time!

North Point Dive Site . Beautiful soft coral and varied marine life including seahorses, pipefish, fire urchin hitch-hiking zebra crabs, candy crabs, and nudibranchs. A Superb Macro Critter Site.
