The island has seen a busy few days full of headlines: from airport chaos and rising summer temperatures to local controversies and new seasonal events ☀️

Residents of Cala de Bou are raising concerns over the occupied building in Punta Xinxó, Sant Rafel is saying goodbye to OktuberFest, and local authorities continue to oppose Ibiza Airport expansion plans.

At the same time, Ibiza is already embracing summer vibes with colourful street decorations, family festivals in Santa Eulària and more events returning for the season 🌊✨

✖️Ibiza Chiringuito faces closure ✖️

A beach bar that has been part of Ibiza since the 1970s is now at risk of disappearing.

The High Court of Justice of the Balearic Islands has upheld the decision to deny permission for the Es Puetó chiringuito on Es Pouet beach. Authorities argue that the coastline is already saturated with seasonal businesses and that removing permanent structures is necessary to protect the environment and ensure equal access to public beaches.

Despite operating for more than 50 years, the court emphasized that occupying public coastal land is not an automatic right, and that business interests must be balanced with environmental protection and public use.

For many people, chiringuitos are more than just beach bars, they are part of the island’s culture and lifestyle.

The decision is not yet final and can still be appealed.

A major change is happening in the Balearic Islands 🌴

Over 60,000 illegal Airbnb listings have been removed as part of a broader effort to reshape tourism and protect local housing.

Authorities describe it as a historic step toward a more sustainable model and less overcrowding across the islands.

If you’re planning a trip, it’s important to check that your accommodation has a valid tourist license (ETV) and verify it in the official Balearic registry online to avoid any issues.

At the same time, fewer rentals on the market could mean higher prices and limited availability for visitors.

After 50 years… this abandoned hotel on Ibiza might finally disappear 🙌

Built back in the 70s and never completed, this huge beton structure has been sitting right on one of the island’s most beautiful coastlines for decades.

Now things are finally moving forward.

Authorities have approved the next step, and if everything goes as planned: the demolition will go ahead.

The goal? Clean up the area and bring the natural landscape back 🌿
