With a futuristic staging, fire, smoke and vibrant screens, Jason Derulo inaugurated last night the fourth edition of the Granca Live Fest at the Gran Canaria Stadium with a performance that overflowed with energy and charisma. For more than an hour, the American artist turned the venue into an authentic outdoor dance floor, reviewing his greatest successes before a completely dedicated audience.
From Swalla’s first chord, Derulo made it clear that he came to give it his all. Dressed in black and white, he displayed his characteristic vocal game and his millimetre choreographies, accompanied by a first-level technical display. The audience sang songs such as Wiggle, Savage Love, Whatcha Say, Trumpets and Talk Dirty, in a repertoire that ranged from their beginnings to their most recent hits.
“I’m very happy to be here,” said the singer, who did not stop interacting with the attendees, asking for hands up and encouraging them to “forget everything and enjoy.” His connection with the audience was total, and the stadium responded with enthusiasm to every beat, every treble and every dance step.
Derulo’s concert marked one of the most vibrant moments of the opening night of the festival, which will continue until Saturday with artists such as Nathy Peluso, Ozuna and Enrique Iglesias. But last night, the protagonist was him: a showman who showed why he is still one of the most powerful names in global pop.
