Dear Colleagues, Researchers, Students and Tourism Professionals,
We are pleased to announce the Call for Papers for the Algarve Winter Meeting 2027, to be held in Faro, Portugal, in person and online, on 22 January 2027.
We warmly invite researchers, academics, postgraduate students and practitioners to submit contributions presenting their latest research, work-in-progress and insights on key contemporary issues in tourism, hospitality and marketing, including:
Artificial intelligence, Big Data and digital transformation
Branding, marketing and customer experience
Changes in travel behaviour and tourism demand
Human capital, service innovation and hospitality
Tourism impacts on local communities
Inclusive, accessible and niche tourism
Gastronomy and experiential tourism
Smart destinations and social media
Ethics, transparency and greenwashing
Sustainable and regenerative tourism practices
Tourism-promoting events, risk and safety
We are also delighted to announce our keynote speakers:
Luísa Schmidt, sociologist and coordinating researcher at the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Lisbon (ICS-ULisboa), is a leading figure in Environmental Sociology in Portugal. Her research focuses on climate change, sustainability, environmental policy, public participation and the social dimensions of environmental change.
James Higham, Professor at Griffith University, Australia, is internationally recognised for his research on tourism and global environmental change. His work explores sustainable tourism, climate change, biodiversity, wildlife and marine conservation, as well as the relationships between tourism, sport, mobility and the environment.
The Algarve Winter Meeting aims to bring together an international community to share research, ideas and experiences in a stimulating, informal and collaborative environment.
