Discordian Records Since 2014 organizes a weekly double concert series called "Nocturna Discordia". Nuestro compromiso es con la música, y nos encanta descubrir nuevos músicos.

Net Label

Discordian Records promotes Barcelona's underground experimental and improvised music scene, as well as other national and international acts related to it.

DR182-Smells Funny
by Fail Again Ensemble

Listen/buy here: https://discordianrecords.bandcamp.com/album/smells-funny

After leading the MIS collective (Sound Insurrection Movement), which fostered collaborations with artists from various disciplines, Mireia Tejero and David García Aparicio now head the new project FAIL AGAIN. Born as an acoustic street band with the intention of making site-specifics artististic interventions, the ensemble presents in this recording a set of real-time compositions based on pre-existing material from such diverse authors as Ornette Coleman, Pink Floyd, and Silvius Leopold Weiss.

The group's name, “FAIL AGAIN”, is intended as a statement reclaiming failure as something inherent to any musical or cultural activism — far removed from monetization and the notion of music as a consumer product. Almost as a joke, Frank Zappa's phrase “Jazz is not dead, it just smells funny” struck us as the perfect introduction to this project, which is destined happily to fail.

DR181-Live At Penhasco
by Dissection Room

https://discordianrecords.bandcamp.com/.../live-at-penhasco

Recorded during one of the Sunday sessions curated by Lisbon’s Rovado Collective at Penhasco, this album documents a moment of vivid communion between three long-time friends and explorers of sound: Albert Cirera (saxophones, Catalonia), Abdul Moimême (prepared guitar, Lisbon) and Álvaro Rosso (double bass, Lisbon).
Their paths first crossed at MIA – Encontro de Música Improvisada de Atouguia da Baleia, Portugal’s annual gathering for experimental and improvised music. Since then, each encounter has deepened a shared language of friction, silence, resonance and pulse.

Cirera extends his horn with objects and mutes; Moimême transforms the guitar into a percussive and metallic landscape; Rosso grounds and dissolves with raw, tactile precision. Together they form a single organism, simultaneously dissecting and regenerating sound.

Live at Penhasco captures that rare equilibrium of freedom and focus — a music that invents itself as it disappears.

"When The S**t Hits The Jazz Fan". Listen to the album of the complete concert at discordian records bandacamp page.

Liner notes from the album:
A live recording of one of the "Nights Of The Unreal Book" that occurred in 2024 in the Nocturna Discordia weekly concert series at Soda Acústic, Barcelona. The Unreal Book is a collection of graphic scores said to exist in a parallel reality where jazz has evolved in the direction free jazz, free improvisation and avantgarde pointed to.
This is a very special line-up of DCE, featuring three different generations of musicians from the Barcelona free improvisation scene. This band has played many "Unreal Book" concerts through 2023 and 2024, this is one of the latest (October 2024) and shows a particular cohesion considering the abstract character of the music. This is a singularity in Barcelona's experimental music scene, don't miss the fnords!

The concert was part of the LEM Festival in Barcelona.

This studio document traces a trio born onstage at Nocturna Discordia, Barcelona’s long-running weekly series. The spark reaches back to November 2019, when Alexis Perepelycia—musician and cultural agitator from Rosario, Argentina—first played and recorded with Albert Cirera in Argentina. In September 2024, passing through Barcelona between dates of his Cruce (Madrid) residency, Perepelycia met El Pricto on the Nocturna stage; the connection between the three was immediate. Five days later they entered the studio. The result is poised volatility—an eruptive sonic chimera dredged from the deep. Eris would approve of the cultivated chaos within.

Personnel:

Albert Cirera: soprano and tenor saxophones
El Pricto: modular synthesizer
Alexis Perepelycia: drums and electroacustics

All music by Albert Cirera, El Pricto and Alexis Perepelycia.

Recorded on the 23rd of September of 2024 by Sergi Felipe at Underpool, Barcelona.
