Ghana Thrives Only Under NPP— Akufo-Addo
Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has declared that Ghana’s prosperity has always been tied to New Patriotic Party (NPP) rule, urging members to rebuild and reclaim power ahead of the 2028 elections.
In a speech delivered on his behalf by former Chief of Staff Frema Osei Opare at the party’s National Delegates Conference, Akufo-Addo said:
“We have, through it all, demonstrated the resilience of our rank and file against challenges, and shown without doubt as our records have proven, that it is always only under the New Patriotic Party that Ghana thrives,” he said.
The former President, who served two terms, acknowledged the NPP’s current challenges but expressed confidence in the party’s ability to rebuild and reclaim the reins of governance.
He called on delegates to approach the conference not just as a constitutional formality, but as a crucial step toward restoring hope among Ghanaians.
“Though we converge here at the University of Ghana, the sentiments of despair and doubt from the people we represent today must weigh on our deliberations. Our work here must be a formidable effort toward restructuring, rebuilding, and reclaiming power,” he said.
Akufo-Addo urged party members to remain united and reject factionalism, describing the NPP not just as a political party, but as a family.
“As is typical of every family, we must find ways to reconcile differences and ensure that every member has a place at the table and is up and ready to be counted.”
